A little earlier than usual up here at Alsop!
Always a joy.

Lots of Chiffchaffs in full voice around Parwich
I’ve never seen a chiffchaff, or maybe I have, but that’s probably down to my poor bird recognition!
Now is the easiest time to spot them before the trees get their leaves. Listen for a repetitive call sounding like “chiffchaff chiffchaff chiffchaff …….” Then look for a small bird in the tops of the trees. Good luck!

Finally here at Blanche Meadow too on April 12th I was beginning to despair as they normally arrive as the same time as the Alsop swallows and now three have arrived together. I can now feel that summer has begun.
At last my swallows have arrived in Creamery Lane. They always seem to arrive a week or ten days later than the others, but then again they always seem to be the last to leave.
You can relax Peter and enjoy the summer now. Interestingly ours have immediately begun nesting whereas last year they hung about for a week waiting for the weather to improve so we should get our first crop of fledglings at around the same time.
