The Parish Council has received the following from the Derbyshire Association of Local Councils.
As you may be aware from local news there is a proposal to close Newholme Hospital, Bakewell as part of changes to the care system.
There appears to have been has been no official direct consultation of Town and Parish Councils.
We have been asked by a member Council to forward the link to the consultation to parish councils/meetings in the Bakewell area in order that they could have an opportunity to comment.
The link is as follows: http://www.joinedupcare.org.uk/
Once you reach this page you will be able to read about the proposals and click on a further link that will allow you to express your views through and on-line form if you wish. There is also a form that can be printed to complete by hand. If any resident would like assistance with completing the form please contact the clerk.

It isn’t just the closure of Newholme that will affect us but also the closure of the Whitworth hospital in Darley Dale. It makes for grim reading when you consider that as our aging population increases, then the means to care for them shrinks. In the document they call it joined up thinking – I think stitched up would be more appropriate!
