Thank you to the Parish Council for this update:
Some members of the Parish Council have met with a representative of Shared Access to obtain more information about the potential for a mobile phone mast in the village. They will be receiving further information shortly and have requested it in electronic form so that it can be shared widely. The blog and the Parish Council website will be used to do this.
Once all the information is available an open session will also be set up in the Memorial Hall. Residents will be able to see the same information as the councillors. Councillors will be present so that residents can share their own views with them.
It is not the Parish Council that will decide whether a mast will be built. This will be done through the normal process of planning applications for the Peak District National Park. The Parish Council would be consulted as part of this process but would not be making the decision.
The Parish Council does have the opportunity to decide whether or not to offer to lease land for the mast to be built on. The purpose of sharing information with residents will be to try and give the best possible understanding of the advantages and disadvantages for residents of them doing this. If the Parish Council does not offer a site for a mast someone else might.
The Parish Council would like to encourage residents to learn as much about these proposals as possible and to feed back their views both for and against the lease of land.
