The following images were taken today at the proposed site of the telecommunications structure which will be 12.5 meters to the top. This was done to assist visualising the height of the mast, the exercise can be repeated again if anyone is interested to see if the mast would be visible from their property.
Note: the object used to measure the height is 30 cm taller than the proposed mast.
While this was being done, I checked from Church Farm.
Although the proposed mast will not be visible from Church Farm itself because of trees, it will be visible from much of the upper part of Creamery Lane and Monsadale Lane, though how conspicuous it will be is dependant on the design and colour of the mast, and on the transmitter(s) attached.
This first picture was taken looking over the triangular green at the fork in Creamery Lane
and this second one from the footpath that goes behind Church Farm and Court House, looking over Court House tennis court
The height of the mast is indicated by the high viz jacket on the pole, highlighted by the red circles.
Note, the proposed mast is quite a bit taller than the existing floodlights.
The Parish Council will be publishing accurate plans shortly.
The height and appearance of the mast is of little consequence. It is the danger to the health of all in the village, not just those who are in the line of sight, that is the issue! The fact that the appearance of this mast is being discussed at all is bordering on tactless, given the implications. It is people’s lives we are talking about, here. This is not a frivolous matter.
This has the feeling of, ‘a runaway train’, that seems to be moving towards a conclusion that is alreadty a fait accompli. Whilst I don’t know the exact health concerns these masts present, I don’t think I would want one close to my children and there is the question of the aesthetics, they are ugly. I am also a little concerned that this seems to be based around finances and the assumption in a previous post that, ‘if the parish council does not offer the land, then someone else will’. Whilst this might be the case, an alternative might also be that bit more removed from the village itself.
I included the self-same comments in my letter to the agents. Hopefully, no-one will be seduced into moral corruption by the whiff of a bit of cash
Did anyone happen to get any pictures from Monsdale Lane / near Littlewood farm. I’m assuming this would be pretty visible from there, in what is otherwise a very unspoilt rural valley.
