BT Broadband is driving us crazy – cuts out at some stage most days.
Malcolm Harvey
Exactly. Is it just us on the corner of Creamery /Monsdale Lane, do you think?
Yes we experience this too, impossible to run our business with BT’s offerings, so we run W3Z for the business and just use BT as a backup. Close proximity to Harvey and you Rona.
Am in the same area, next door to Rona using BT broadband, but not currently having problems. Do usually get cuts in service for between 10 and 15 minutes about once a fortnight but nothing for a few weeks. In general download speed at peak times of the day has slowed, I had assumed this was deliberate to encourage us to pay more for superfast broadband.
I have noticed this with our home BT in the West End and work Chessbroadband outside the village. Seems to frequently cut out for a short spell.
I am afraid you will get nowhere with Openreach, they will turn up plug in there meter, tell you there is nothing wrong and they will then disappear into the mist. They have driven me mad with an intermittent fault on the telephone line, they have been out 5 times and they have no intention of getting to grips with the problem, as the fault lies in the underground cables.
Whilst part of Tissington those on the Parwich exchange still do not have BT Broadband, we are too far away from the exchange! We are having trouble with the telephone line, lots of interference and noises on the phone before the call has been connected.
I go so fed up with BT that I changed to W3Z a year ago and am much happier – and no landline charges!
Thank you everyone, I think we will be looking into using W3Z
Before complaining about the BT line itself – if you have a BT Home Hub as part of the deal they are notorious for dropping your connection, particularly on WiFi. If you are in your contract and need/want to stay with BT buy a better router and it will probably sort 90% of your problems.
If you already have a good router and still have issues then keep on at BT until they fix it.
I too have been using Zycomm, w3z, for some considerable time.My download speed this evening was 24 Mb, plenty good enough for me. I also use Vonage for my phone connection which uses the w3z broadband service and is cheaper than BT. The (local) firm is very helpful and normally sorts any problems within a very short time. The only slight downside is that you can’t use your phone (e.g. to report a problem) if the w3z broadband connection is down, so you would need to use your mobile or your neighbours’ phone!
