Guidelines for Helpers of the Spring Village Clean-up 2017
Tasks involve: Cleaning inside and painting the pavilion, clearing the path to the pavilion, clearing the area of land (mainly brambles) surrounding the hard courts, etc
This brief guide explains the key Health & Safety points taken from the risk assessment, which is available on the Parwich Parish Council website.
* Volunteers take part at their own risk
* Children are very welcome, but only with permission from their parent. Under 9’s are expected to be accompanied by a parent
* Volunteers to wear suitable clothing for the tasks and the weather conditions. Sturdy and appropriate footwear (wellington boots) and strong gloves
* It is helpful if volunteers bring their own tools, such as wheel barrows, rakes, spades, forks and step ladders. Please ensure these tools and equipment are in a suitable state of repair so that they do not cause injury to yourself or others
* Only use tools and step ladders if you feel competent and safe to do so
* Some volunteers may be painting the pavilion. Work clothes, eye protection and gloves are advised for this task. We will be using Wickes Creocote, which can cause skin irritation and is potentially harmful if this comes into contact with your eyes
* If you come into direct contact with dog faeces please wash your hands immediately as this can cause Toxocariasis (blindness) in young children
* During the activity please make the organisers (Parish Councillors / Clerk) aware of any Health & Safety concerns that you encounter
* Please take extra care of site traffic (dumpster and tipper vehicles)
* Power tools should not be used by anyone who is not suitably competent
* Look out for the safety of yourselves and others (especially children)
* During the event refreshments will be provided at the Pavilion. Please ensure you wash your hands well before handling and consuming food
