PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
We have managed to stop the rot in the Thursday League as we lost really well. Our good winning streak has thankfully come to an end. Money is going to have to change hands in the Tuesday League as we are second, but have played one match fewer than the top team and keep on winning. It has to stop.
Tuesday League
May 30 – Away – Whitworth Park.
Now Pat B is playing like she owns any green she plays on and at Whitworth Park she did the business whilst holding John B’s hand. The pair of them scared the opposition to death and romped home 21 – 3. What a start. Rick and Edith also battled through to win 21 – 17. Although we lost the other two games we did score a good lot of points in doing so. The final result was Parwich 75, Whitworth 62. So when we play next week we will have to pay an umpire to doctor the score.
Playing on the 50p green next week.
Next Match – Matlock Bath – Home – 6 June 6.30pm.
Thursday League
June 1 – Away – Matlock Park.
Having been playing too well in the League, apart from the weather, we had quite a few wheels fall off. In the doubles apart from Pat B. (Her again) and Liz H who put together a spirited game to lose 16 – 21, we had best not mention our other two pairs, but after the doubles we were 29 – 63 down.
We did not play a lot better in the singles apart from Dawn A. She played like a professional to win 15 – 0. Here’s a turn-up for the team, we had a new member join the Club and he can play bowls. Keith B put together a load of shots to win 15 – 7. The closest we got next was John B who finished second losing 14 – 15. The final score for singles was a loss 66 – 67. The overall result was more in keeping with our Thursday matches Matlock 130, Parwich 95. First time for a long time we did not get 100. It’s about time we lost well anyway.
Tough home match next week against a strong Club.
Next match – Home – Tideswell – 15 June – 1.45pm.
John B.
