I’ve just driven past the YNOT site, and to be honest, was pretty shocked – not just at the state of the fields (litter that will end up in a landfill which in itself is both ironic and depressing considering we live in a place of natural beauty) but the state of the road. The verges are pretty torn up. Who is responsible for fixing them? And does the license to hold the festival include a time frame to get the place ‘back to normal’? Usually there has been a team of folks cleaning up soon after this event, but not so with the new owners it appears.

YNOT Clean Up?
Friday August 4, 2017 by Fiona H

I was talking to two holiday makers in Tissington Village today. They were absolutely horrified and upset at the mess, and mud on the main road ?(5012) general detritus from beer cans to Wellington Boots along the roadside and hedge bottoms. Fortunately they stay at Hartington Hall frequently and love the beauty of the Peak District. They did say if it had been their first visit to the area it would have been very off putting. Along with the price of parking and lack of parking spaces in Ashbourne.
As were we Debbie: it is an embarrassing, ugly thing to witness in a National Park – abandoned, wind-blown tents on the chewed-up verge; other detritus all over the place. And that was four days ago. Judging by the negative comments made elsewhere as to the new management’s inability to run YNOT responsibly, I’d urge whomever the licensor is to fix it before next year. As for some of the folk who wilfully littered the place with large amounts of their personal property before they quit the venue, shame on them.
I saw a gang of about 20 cleaning up rubbish and they looked far from local.
