Along with my friend, Annette, I have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next August to raise some vital funds for their very worthy cause. We have begun the training but the bigger challenge for us is raising the £7000 sponsorship money we have committed to. So far, we have held cake stalls in Ashbourne, set up a bonus ball, and planned fundraising evenings.
Many of you will be aware of the national children’s charity, CHICKS, a branch of which is on our doorstep in Fenny Bentley. CHICKS provides free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK. This year they need to raise £1.5 million to continue providing vital breaks for vulnerable children who might be living in poverty, be young carers, be victims of bullying or abuse, or have been bereaved.
How can you help?
- You can buy a steak & ale pie / mince & onion pie/ Christmas cake from us (prices vary depending on size). These have already been selling like hot cakes (excuse the pun).
- You can sponsor us directly (see details below)
- You can do anything else you can think of to help us achieve our target!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. This is a challenge very close to our hearts and made even tougher because I don’t like small insects and Annette doesn’t like small mammals!
