Weather
We just drove from Alsop to New Haven and the A515 is pretty clear. There are a few spots with drifted snow and a few abandoned vehicles on the sides. Lorries are taking it slow. If you have a 4X4 it’s no problem. Beware of some icy spots. Dam Lane was ploughed this morning from the A515 down to Parwich.
Apparently not the case past Newhaven:
Police report the following main roads are still impassable & will be closed for another 24 hours: A515 Buxton to Newhaven, A5012 Via Gellia (Pikehall to Newhaven), A5270 Coalpit Lane south of Buxton. Full list of road closures on the County Council’s website here > https://goo.gl/THpmwa
Tractors and some 4×4’s have gone past me at Parwich Lee’s Cottage this morning. A couple of vehicles with buckets have scraped the top surface but not headed out so don’t know what it’s like to drive on. Newhaven to Buxton section closed earlier but no heard what it’s like down to Ashbourne. Buxton Weather Watch have been pretty good with updates
David G reports some slow movement on the A515 to Ashbourne. The Alsop road has seen a few 4x4s but there is a build up of ice and deep ruts around the dip at Parwich Lees making it tricky for lower wheelbase vehicles.
There’s also a rumour that the B5056 has been opened temporarily?
Many thanks for the info David.
went to Ashbourne at 230- Alsop road clear as David says except for ruts by Parwich Lees. 515 between there and Tissington single file in many places because of drifts. from FB to Ashbourne fine, but freezing in Ashbourne!
returned via 5056- completely clear, just the odd ramps. then beyond Bradbourne Mill single file because of drifts, likewise round the Bent. hopefully snow is too frozen to drift again
