Rev Carollyn’s retirement gift
Some will be aware of Carollyn’s retirement, the date set after a period of poor health during the summer. Her last service will be in Fenny Bentley on Boxing Day.
Many will have appreciated her presence around the village and her ministry at particularly significant times. The Church Council has decided to make a cash gift to help with the cost of settling in her new home in Northumberland. If you’d like to contribute there are three ways of doing this:
- Cash or cheques (payable to Parwich PCC) can be left in the jar on The Legion bar or on The Sycamore shop counter until Boxing Day
- Come to our Christmas services in church – Carol Service 6pm Sun 19 Dec & Crib Service 3pm Christmas Eve – when the collections will form part of the gift
- Make a bank transfer to Parwich PCC a/c no 88751503 sort code 60-01-19. Please mark your transfer ‘Carollyn gift’

Update: There’s been a decision this afternoon that tomorrow we will be holding Morning Prayer at 9.30am, not Holy Communion. The meetings will continue after the service as planned. Apologies for the late change.
At 9.30am There’s a service of Holy Communion in St Peter’s in the village. This will be followed at 1030 by the Annual Vestry Meeting, a public meeting to elect the churchwardens, then the Annual Parochial Meeting for those on the church Electoral Roll. At the second meeting we elect other officers and consider accounts etc. This year we will also have a discussion about the pattern of services in our church.
There’s no Zoom service at 6pm this week.

There is one service and it’s in church, St Peter’s, at 9.30am. It’s a service of Holy Communion which we will celebrate with social distancing. Please bring a face mask unless you’re exempt.
Tomorrow is Rogation Sunday when traditionally church congregations walked around the parish boundaries, even in the rain! It’s a time of prayer for the crops and preparation for the Ascension when Jesus ascended to heaven.
All welcome in church.

There are two Parwich-related opportunities for worship tomorrow:
- At 1000 in church there’s a candle/Christingle service where each person lights their own holding candle symbolising the light of Jesus and bringing hope to people living in darkness. Due to social distancing, space in our church building is reduced so we may not be able to welcome everyone in. To avoid on-the-door disappointment, please telephone or email in advance to ensure there is a place for you in the building (contact details below). CANCELLED in order to keep everyone safe
- At 1800 we’re on Zoom for our local version of King’s College, Cambridge Nine Lessons & Carols. Bring a candle and reduce other lights to increase the atmosphere! As this service will be recorded, if you prefer your faces not to be recorded, please set up so that your candle is visible. At 1730 bring your own tea/coffee & cake for a chat if you wish. (Contact details below.)
