The Peak District National Park Authority’s open consultation meeting on Parwich Conservation Area is
4pm to 7-30pm Tuesday 6th May
at Parwich Memorial Hall (unless we hear anything different)
Go along to ask your questions and have your say. We will only have the results that reflect our views if we find out about the proposals and let the Authority know what we want. Go along and take a friend or two.

The Environment Group have particular concerns about the draft characterising Parwich as ‘a dormitory settlement with residents commuting to employment elsewhere‘ (paragraph 4.10), ‘the only amenity … is now the public house‘ (4.10) and ‘there are numerous second homes and holiday cottages in the village‘ (2.5). We strongly feel that this misrepresents our community, with its many businesses and voluntary groups, with the Legion, the Church, the School, the Memorial Hall and the various Sports facilities.
We are concerned that this false description will not help protect the community as it is, will prevent planning applications for community and business growth, and encourage more tourist related development. This latter point is worrying as the draft appraisal states we are “located in Recreational Zone 2 … recreation- and tourism-related development is encouraged … Zone 2 uses include: picnic sites, small car parks and facilities linked to walking, cycling and riding …” (12.4). Where did this come from?
There seems to have been a good turn out this evening and the Cultural Heritage Team were pleased to get such a good response (only three people turned out at Litton). They are going back to evaluate and consult on all our comments. They said they would let us know what is to happen next, so PARWICH.ORG will endeavour to keep you informed.
