On the back of the letter that we received from Severn Trent re. the water repairs on Saturday, there is a form for claiming compensation if they don’t restore services by the stated time.
Could we encourage people to claim, and then give the money to the people who were flooded? I know of at least two – they had turned taps on and forgotten about them, and then had floods during the night after the water was restored and overflowed the basins. (I suspect the water pressure is higher now than it was before.)

really great idea- we could ALL have been flooded and the only thing which stopped some of us was being at the top of the hill- insurance doesn’t cover the full costs does it because everyone has an excess on their policy-and also higher premiums for future years. It would be very public spirited if those of us not affected helped out those who took the brunt (and probably spared the rest of us) A good idea. we’ll be donating ours- do you have any info on where we can send the cheque?
I think I may have thrown mine away. Can you scan it onto parwich.org?
If anyone would like to send us a good quality scan, we can certainly make it available for download via this site.
Just to echo Amanda’s comment: where exactly should people send their money? I guess this might need some careful organisation.
Mike G.
Will they try to avoid the issue by claiming the issue as two events?
I feel they are very likely to try.
Well I’ve applied. I’ll let you know what success I have.
Come to think of it, might be worth others holding back. If they receive 300 claims they may try to get out of it. But 1 successful claim would set a precedent, and we’ve got 3 months to claim. The power of the web.
Good thinking Rick – let us know if/when you have the precedent – then we’ll let the floodgates open – so to speak.
Just to offer an update on this. We received a letter from Severn Trent Water today saying that as a result of their failing to restore the supply by the stated time on the issued warning, a payment of £20 has been credited to our account and will be shown on our next bill.
We have received the same letter.
So have we.
