Open gardens was a fabulous success with many folks making the most of the weather, the great new Memorial Hall, the beautiful gardens and the tasty cream teas.
Over £800 was taken on the door and the day netted over £1350. This is money that will be used by the society to benefit local causes with a horticultural bent, as a thank you to the village for putting up with the disruption of Open Gardens.
Those who were involved in the cream teas worked incredibly hard all day and really appreciated the new kitchen. The new Hall looked stunning with the tables decked with checked table cloths and flowers. The displays from the children were super, but unfortunately entries were well down on previous years despite the monetary rewards. With the doors opening out on to the patio many visitors were able to enjoy the new seating area.
The committee would like to express their thanks to all those who opened their gardens and made the day such a success.
