Due to the popularity of our last ‘Spot The Difference’ feature, we’ve decided to run another one. This time, we’ve made it very very hard.
Click on ‘Continue Reading’ and take a careful look at these two photos. Although they may look identical at first, there is in fact a subtle difference between the top photo and the bottom photo.
Can you spot the difference? We particularly welcome answers in the comments box from our older readers.
HINT: Try putting on your glasses before attempting the exercise. A glass of Christmas sherry might make the difference a little easier to spot!
Merry Christmas everybody!
Is it that the windows in the phone box are cleaner in the first picture?
No, I think I have got it: Paul is wearing a different jacket when getting into his pick up.
Nope, I’ve sat and looked it all night and cleared a bottle of sherry and still can’t get them
More sherry needed I’m afraid. The difference is there if you concentrate very hard….
There is a lamp post missing on the 1st picture just before the telephone box.
I know, I know…… in the top picture the church is on the right and on the bottom picture the church is on the left…or should that be the other way around? Now, where did I leave that bottle of sherry – can’t remember where I had it last.
Ha! The Church Steeple is higher in the first photo! (I know because I’ve just measured it!)
Can’t find the sherry so will have to try the marsala, is 10:30 am too early to start?
Dare I mention the snow and the trees behind the church spire. More to follow when I can find the Sherry.
Hick! Now, let me shee …….., no, shorry, all four pictures look exactly the shame to me…..
I have found the sherry and i am sure the church has increased in size in the second picture
My this is proving to be a tough one! There are some good attempts at the answer here, but they’re not quite what we’re looking for.
Consider mapping the pictures with gridlines or try using tracing paper. Squinting may help….or turn the monitor upside down. If all else fails, ditch the sherry and open the green chartreuse…
Dear Mike H (Blog Team), how old do you have to be to be an “older reader”? I’ve been 21 for quite a number of years now so I’m probably too young.
And what if you don’t like sherry? Nigel always buys a bottle at this time of year on the basis that we’re going to spend most of Christmas sipping it before meals then we can’t face it and it loiters in the fridge all year. Can we try pomagne instead?
Also, I wear lenses so I’m not sure whether I need to take those out and put my glasses on for this or if you mean those glasses “older readers” might wear for reading which I did try on today in Bennets and was surprised to be able to read ordinary type held close to my face for the first time in a few years.
I think you’ve made the quiz quite difficult and confusing with too many rules about age and glasses and sherry this year. Can we not go back to the year when we had photos of people wearing very little? Also, I think you’ve just posted the same photo twice which is why people are finding it too hard.
Yeah Lynne – I think all that too.
Lynne you are supposed to use the glasses to put the sherry in – not wear them on your head. Anyway, all this talk is very confusing. I think I need just a little tipple (medicinal)to help me think straight. Dear me. now I’ve completely fogotten what we were talking about.
Yurp – it’s all gone a bit confusing hasn’t it.
OK, a few facts to clear the head:
You Lynne are definitely too young to be doing this competition.
Sherry belongs in trifle, not the fridge.
Fridges hold beer, not sherry.
Pomagne is a very nice drink, but it is a well-known fact that if you imbibe a bit too much, you can go off on a meaningless rant about all sorts of stuff.
Right. Hope that’s sorted that lot out.
Back to the competition….
If I screw up my eyes a bit (and take OFF my glasses!) I am sure I can see falling snow in the first photo…..now im feeling dizzy! Is that the difference? Pass the sanatogen!
Su,
Good effort….and getting closer. But…..if you look very carefully you can also see falling snow in the second picture (at least whilst Mike A has it switched on anyway! Clever the way it drifts towards your mouse huh?). So not the difference we are looking for.
Keep trying. We’ll get there eventually!
Yeah Patti, Mike and Sue – I think all that too.
Got it!! The bells are ringing in the first one…or am I getting mixed up with the whisky distillers?
Oh..and Graham thinks that too!
Thought leadership is a rare skill Graham. Keep it up!
Now that I have sobered up (by the way, what happened to those other two pictures?), I have spent some time studying the angles of the shadows. Despite that rather misleading (naughty Mike H!) use of different camera angles in the two photos, I have concluded that the two images were actually taken of different days. Am I getting warmer, or do I need to hit the Chartreuse?
The second picture has snow!
CORRECT!!
Well done Debbie. You must have eagle eyes.
You win first prize. We’ll bring your bottle of sherry round shortly.
Gosh Debbie – fantastic – I didn’t think THAT…..!
Is this what happens with very slow shutter speeds?
Mike.G
I’m still waiting!
