The Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire William Tucker is inviting local couples celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 2012 to contact him.
As part of Her Majesty’s Jubilee Tour of the United Kingdom, HM The Queen is to make a joint visit to Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire – based in Nottingham – on Wednesday 13th June, 2012.
During that visit HM The Queen, accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, will attend a reception and Mr. Tucker wants Diamond Wedding couples from Derbyshire to have the opportunity of attending that Reception.
Says Mr Tucker, “I have no idea how many couples in Derbyshire are celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary this year but there is an opportunity here to make it rather special for some that are doing so.”
Up to 18 couples can be invited to the Reception, i.e. 36 people in total. In the event that more than 18 couples apply then each of the District / Borough / City Councils within the County will be asked to choose two couples each to ensure a fair distribution of invitations from across Derbyshire.
In the first instance, couples wishing to be considered should send a copy of their Wedding Certificate, together with a covering letter, to:-
