Common Darter (Sympetrum) ?
I don’t know the first thing about dragonflies, but it looks a bit like a ‘Vagrant Emperor – Immature Male’ as on the http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/content/anisoptera-dragonflies website.
Any experts out there?
Steve, your suggestion of the Common Darter seems more likely on closer inspection (e.g. spot on wing tips). Also: my suggested Vagrant Emperor is a ‘rare migrant …’.
I enjoyed browsing the Dragonfly website! A first for me.
