PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Last week of the season, no more twaddle to read. We did achieve a memorable place in the Thursday League though. We were in top position albeit for one week!
Matlock Tuesday League.
Home – Ashwood Park – 6 September – 6.00pm.
Ashwood were in a very solid third place in the league with the possibility of going second. Dot H, holding John B’s hand very firmly, guided the pair to a 21 – 18 win. Dennis E and Sue A unfortunately could not keep the momentum going and went down 12 – 21. Back came Dawn A and Tony A with a resounding win 21 – 11. Only Rick and Edith to go unfortunately they came second 17 – 21 again. Final result was another draw 71 points each. Probably a fair result. I think that this will keep us mid table.
Matlock Thursday League.
Away – Matlock Bath – 8 September – 1.45pm.
So there we were top of the league! All we had to do was to keep our nerve and play our little socks off.
Matlock’s green is the shape of a fifty pence piece and not much bigger. No problems with corner to corner jacks. Although we only won one doubles game we were 46 – 58 down. We shared the singles games three each, although our scores were better than Matlock’s. After the singles we won 77 – 72 not quite enough to get us a win. With Bakewell, the league’s best club playing at home our chances of retaining top spot are slim. Still to come second is a really good result. Final score Matlock 130, Parwich 123. Even if the team in third place got a maximum score we cannot be beaten for second, so first division here we come.
Have a good winter every one and be prepared for more fabulous crown green bowling next year. Why not come and join us.
John B.

Well done! What an achievement.
Nice one Parwich Bowls Club, congratulations as Di says, also i have seen a lot of hard work continuously ongoing to keep the bowling green as whole in great shape, its a credit to all involved.
John B, I do like your reports with the odd hint of humor now and then, and its a great result for us all that Dawn A ended the season on a high at Matlock, however, it wasn’t that much of a surprise with how it reads that Dennis and Sue didn’t quite manage a win, they may of been distracted by other players having a firm grip of each other.
Well done again all.
DS
I agree with you David about the reports. I don’t know anything about bowls but always read the reports for the wit and humour and look forward to reading them.
