This is a not very good photo of what I think must be an egret which flew from the brook when I startled it. Has anyone else seen it?

I saw one a couple of weeks ago up Monsdale valley, never seen one here before, though they are frequently seen at Carsington Water.
Knowing little about birds, I decided to look at the Carsington Bird Club website, where sightings are listed chronologically.
The Little Egret has been sighted on 5 or 6 days during May and June this year, usually just 1 Little Egret, but once a small group of 3 birds.
May-be the very wet conditions of the meadows with plenty of water sloshing around in the streams has tempted it to venture into the Parwich valley.
I’ve never seen one here, so lucky you!
Looking on Derbyshire Bird site http://www.derbyshireos.org.uk/news.php there’s certainly been Little Egrets around Derby this last week. Did you see the yellow legs?
No Steve, I didn’t notice the legs being yellow. It shot off and I was struggling to capture it on camera. I was in the house when I noticed it coming into land and it caught my eye as being something I hadn’t seen before. In flight and as it took off it was very much like a heron so I reckoned it was an egret. Will keep my eyes peeled for it returning.
