Hi, we just wanted to offer our help to anyone who may need it at the moment.
Between us, we go to Ashbourne, Wirksworth or Bakewell every day and we would be happy to pick up anything needed such as shopping, prescriptions or anything else. We are happy to drop it off anywhere in the area. We can also call to Hartington for prescriptions if needed.
Please just call if you need anything at all. If we are unable to answer straight away please do leave us a message and we will get back to you. Our numbers are:
Liz Edge – 07545 345 504
Karen Wigley – 07792 289 888
Rosie Ward – 07712 481 197
Many thanks,
Liz, Karen and Rosie
What a trio of stars you are! Such a compassionate response to this national emergency.
I would also like to join Karen, Liz and Rosie in their offer as I am out and about most days and would be very happy to help now or any time in the future

Thankyou ladies that is a very kind offer xx
Very reassuring to know that we have so many caring people in the Village. Hopefully it’s a service that not many will need!

This is really fabulous. If there’s anything the blog can do to help – coordinating shopping trips, passing on messages, etc. please let us know.
We know why we love it here in this village – it’s full of such lovely people. Hopefully we won’t need to take up your offers of help, but it’s great to know they are there. Thank you so much.

It is a wonderful thing to read about so many people wanting to help others at this really difficulty time. I would like to add my name and number to the list. If anyone is wanting help in Alsop we are just down the lane so please call. Jane 07866431602 or Mike 07968192560
How very kind of you Jane. Along with many others who have offered help within in our community, your public-spiritedness is heartwarming, as well as reassuring. I do wish that my elderly mother (whom I’ve often encouraged – unsuccessfully alas – to come and live here) enjoyed a remotely similar level of neighbourly support.
In different circumstances, my partner and I would have offered our names and numbers to the list too, but his severe asthma places him at increased risk from coronavirus, so he is currently self-isolating (but able to drive us around while remaining in the car). Online supplies are still moving (just) despite crazy personal stockpiling, which the supermarkets should have nipped in the bud at a much earlier stage in my view.
On a happier note in these troubling times, swallows and martins will be back very soon. Their return always brings welcome smiles and enjoyment to us all as a sign of Spring; of continuity and renewal.
Best wishes to all. Stay safe.

There seems to be many offers of help for people who are isolated. What an amazing village.. If you are well and need to get out and about for fresh air, exercise and a change of scene, all National Trust properties have opened their car parks & outdoor spaces for free. The toilets are also open. Sadly the cafes and shops are closed, but if you bring a blanket and a flask there are lovely places for a picnic with plenty of room for social distancing.
I read that Ilam Park has now been closed
