It is with regret that James and I have agreed to hang up our boots and bring the children’s Sunday Football to an end.
As most would say these things come in cycles, currently we have an age demographic of some older children who are less interested in playing football and some very young children who haven’t yet found an interest in the wonderful game! Since we changed the football from Friday to a Sunday we have only been getting 3 or 4 children each week and with COVID issues I don’t see it being truly responsible for us to start back anytime soon.
Over the 4 years that we have run the group, we have amassed lot of equipment, line marking equipment line marking paint, hurdles, slalom training poles, lots of new Sondico footballs, dribbling cones, etc, all of this equipment is for the use of villagers and village groups, especially the school (please can someone let them know).
Our fund contained a significant amount of money which has been donated to us by various community groups, we have been very grateful for all of the support you have given us over the years, your money has provided many children with hours of fun and good exercise.
We have returned the money to our donors as follows:
£100 – Horticultural Society
£100 – Parwich Independent Welfare Fund
£207.44 – Parwich United Charities
I would like to thank you for your support, James for his time and effort and most of all the children for their efforts and fun.
Hopefully one day in the future someone else will take on this challenge.
Jason J
I will look forward to taking this challenge on when the demand is there!
You have done a wonderful job Jason and given a great deal of enjoyment and skill to many young people in the village. I remember Larry B doing exactly the same thing for years and I’ve no doubt the children of those he taught will be along soon for your successor.
What a lousy excuse to stop the football training, i.e. not having enough children in the the right age group?! What about setting up an over-60’s, and another over-70’s and possibly a third for over-80’s football training session. Plenty of potential in the village (including myself…). Joking apart, I always enjoyed reading the football posts on the blog! Apparently there is some expectation that the Covid lockdown may result in a bit of a baby boom … so don’t throw your football boots in the bin as yet.
