All bin collections will be one day later than usual for the remainder of this week due to rounds being cancelled today because of widespread flooding across the Dales.
It means collections that were scheduled for today will now happen tomorrow, and Tuesday’s on Wednesday etc. Serco crews will be working on Saturday to complete the week’s rounds.

and perhaps food caddy…
as our council tells us –
Last week council staff emptied more than 2,200 caddies, equating to around 24 tonnes of food waste. Our own Clean & Green teams will again assist on Tuesday and Friday this week with food waste collections.
One can only dream that serco will be reimbursing the Council for this?

Serco will restart separate weekly collections of food waste on Derbyshire Dales residents’ scheduled collection day from this coming Monday, 29 November.
Separate food waste collections were suspended at the end of July due to the national shortage of HGV drivers impacting the District Council’s waste and recycling service. This freed up teams to focus on domestic and recycling waste.
As promised, the three months suspension of excess recycling, which started from 30 August, will also be lifted from 29 November. We are appealing though to residents to please be mindful that putting out lots of excess at the first opportunity could lead to trucks filling up more quickly than usual and rounds not being completed.
Please therefore try to limit excess for the time being and see our advice on how to present excess recycling so it is easily identifiable at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/excessrecycling

No food caddy, put food waste in grey bin.
There has been some disruption to collections due to strike action by Serco crews however best information I have is that domestic waste (grey bin) is being prioritised so we should get a normal collection.

Have your say on council services
Derbyshire Dales District Council is undertaking a Resident Survey this month, asking for views on the services it delivers and how local people feel about the area. The information will help the District Council to improve the policies and services it delivers while finding out what matters most to local people.
A randomly selected group of residents are receiving a copy of the survey through the post, which they can complete online if they wish. Members of the District Council’s online panel of residents will also receive a link to complete the survey.
Any resident can also complete the survey now at https://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/residentsurvey21
A District Council spokesperson said: “This year’s survey has two new features. First, residents will be asked to record their views and the reasons for them, as well as selecting a graded response. Second, we are requesting postcodes information to assist us in identifying the areas where we need to focus our actions and to follow up on any points raised.”
For more information about the survey contact Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Policy Officer on 01629 761240 during office hours [Tuesday to Thursday].
The spokesperson added: “The Derbyshire Dales Online Panel is one of the ways in which we listen to residents and people who work in the Dales. Around 950 people have already joined the Panel and we’d love to have more.
“Panel members respond to online surveys on topics that are of interest to them and receive fewer than six surveys a year.” To join the Panel go to www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/enewsreg

The interactive map in the consultation shows the current, previously proposed and latest proposals for changing Derbyshire District Council ward boundaries. “Dovedale & Parwich” and part of what was “Carsington Water” are merged into one ward. The previous proposal was to call this new ward “White Peak”. The revised proposals give the ward the name “Dovedale, Parwich & Brassington”. You can support this change (or not) by responding to the consultation.

Another update from DDDC, make of it what you will –
Some better news: All scheduled household waste and recycling rounds are collecting today.
There’s a possibility some rounds may not be completed due to the sheer volume of recycling going into the trucks – we’ll report on this later.
Serco are still some staff down which means 4 out of today’s scheduled 5 food waste rounds are operating.
We do also have a catch-up crew out recovering some missed collections, though, as you are well aware, the catch-up is going to take some time, for which we again apologise.
We can confirm also that an extraordinary full meeting of the District Council on 27 July will debate the ongoing waste and recycling issues. We’ll promote the report to that meeting on all our communications channels as soon as it is finalised and published, including via this e-newsletter.
A reminder that you can report a missed collection at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/missedcollection

Our communication on Friday (16 July) about planned emergency measures to help alleviate current waste & recycling disruptions in the Dales has prompted a lot of resident feedback, which we appreciate and are listening to.
It has also given us a more detailed insight into the backlog of collections – especially recycling – in some areas of the district.
Because of this it could be necessary to adjust the measures announced – due to start on 26 July – and we have called an emergency meeting of the full council next week to discuss all options.
The report to this meeting will be published on our website no later than tomorrow.
In the meantime we regretfully announce that Serco have reported further staff absences today that they are unable to cover due to the continuing national driver shortage. It means some rounds could not operate today; the full list of the areas affected can be viewed on our website. Some food waste rounds were also not completed.
We appreciate that our apologies are not enough right now, but please be assured that we are exploring all possible angles to get this service back to the excellent levels you rightly expect.

Update from Derbyshire Dales –
Bin collectionsFriday 25 June:
Our contractor Serco will have crews working tomorrow (Saturday 26 June) catching up with missed waste and recycling collections that have happened this week, for which we apologise. So please leave out any missed containers for collection.
While it’s unlikely crews will get to all missed collections tomorrow, the catch-up will continue into next week
