Brent Crude falls back this week after a huge Crude inventory build, worrying inflation data, and projections of falling demand. TIP – Help your oil go further: You can upgrade your fuel to Premium Kerosene by adding a bottle of Exocet Additive to your tank to help improve your overall fuel performance and efficiency. TIP: Pre-winter preparations:- Going into this winter there are a few tips and tricks you can do to ensure your oil and heating is running as efficiently as possible to help keep your costs as low as possible:
– Bleed radiators – if there is built up air in your system you will be burning fuel to heat your house but the radiators may only be functioning at 50% heat capacity.
– Upgrade your oil to Premium Heating Oil – Additive will help your oil run more efficiently and therefore last longer, it will also clear pipes of build up and break down any sludge sat at the bottom of your tank. Additives can be found in our Club Store. Please note: if you have an AGA or wick based cooker you will need the Cooker Additive.
– Remove water in your tank – water occurs naturally overtime and aside from taking up valuable space in your tank, if sucked into your system can cause real problems, usually resulting in expensive servicing fees. You can find a variety of water scavengers in our Club Store to resolve this.

TIP: Pre-winter health checks:- We recommend spending a few minutes this weekend giving your tank a health check before going into the winter to reduce the chance of any issues occurring in the colder months ahead that could leave you without oil: 1) Visual inspection – check your tank for any signs of bulging, sags, holes or cracks occurring; ensure the base is sturdy/adequate and that the tank doesnt overhang the base in any areas; and ensure 3 sides of the tank are accessible for safety checks, as suppliers could refuse to deliver your oil for any of these reasons. 2) Check your gauge is correct – if you have a gauge, do a manual dip test by dipping a clean stick or rod into your tank until it reaches the bottom to ensure the gauge is reading correctly against what you can see the level of the oil is against the rod or stick. We often hear of faulty gauges causing members issues as they think they have a lot more oil than they actually do. 3) Test your heating system – it is a good time to test your central heating to check it hasnt developed any gremlins over the summer. And if you havent already, its worth getting your boiler serviced to ensure it is at full health going into its peak usage months.

However, we have heard from several suppliers today that a lack of product at a number of terminals is pushing kerosene prices even higher in the UK. To ensure you do not run out of fuel over the festive break we suggest you visually inspect your tank just in case your meter is not working properly (every week we hear about faulty meters, it is a common issue). Remember, we often use a lot more fuel of the festive break. With potential delivery issues on the horizon again, please order early and allow plenty of time for your delivery.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Brent Crude prices bounce back to over $75 a barrel this week and Kerosene prices see a noticeable jump as demand on suppliers for deliveries before Christmas more than doubles. A number of suppliers are advising they are now fully booked up to the 24th therefore not taking on any new orders now until after Christmas now.

Brent Crude prices fall below $80 a barrel today, the lowest since the end of September, as Europe contends with rising COVID cases and is returning to lockdowns resulting in a lower than expected demand for fuels.
