TIP: Pre-winter preparations:- Going into this winter there are a few tips and tricks you can do to ensure your oil and heating is running as efficiently as possible to help keep your costs as low as possible:
– Bleed radiators – if there is built up air in your system you will be burning fuel to heat your house but the radiators may only be functioning at 50% heat capacity.
– Upgrade your oil to Premium Heating Oil – Additive will help your oil run more efficiently and therefore last longer, it will also clear pipes of build up and break down any sludge sat at the bottom of your tank. Additives can be found in our Club Store. Please note: if you have an AGA or wick based cooker you will need the Cooker Additive.
– Remove water in your tank – water occurs naturally overtime and aside from taking up valuable space in your tank, if sucked into your system can cause real problems, usually resulting in expensive servicing fees. You can find a variety of water scavengers in our Club Store to resolve this.

TIP: Pre-winter health checks:- We recommend spending a few minutes this weekend giving your tank a health check before going into the winter to reduce the chance of any issues occurring in the colder months ahead that could leave you without oil: 1) Visual inspection – check your tank for any signs of bulging, sags, holes or cracks occurring; ensure the base is sturdy/adequate and that the tank doesnt overhang the base in any areas; and ensure 3 sides of the tank are accessible for safety checks, as suppliers could refuse to deliver your oil for any of these reasons. 2) Check your gauge is correct – if you have a gauge, do a manual dip test by dipping a clean stick or rod into your tank until it reaches the bottom to ensure the gauge is reading correctly against what you can see the level of the oil is against the rod or stick. We often hear of faulty gauges causing members issues as they think they have a lot more oil than they actually do. 3) Test your heating system – it is a good time to test your central heating to check it hasnt developed any gremlins over the summer. And if you havent already, its worth getting your boiler serviced to ensure it is at full health going into its peak usage months.

However, we have heard from several suppliers today that a lack of product at a number of terminals is pushing kerosene prices even higher in the UK. We are once again getting reports of driver issues with drivers having to self-isolate. This weekends orders will be delivered after the 29th and most likely early January 2022 if on a 10 working day delivery timeline.

The cost of kerosene remains high, but the good news is that the cost of Brent Crude has now stopped rising and in-fact dropped back to below $85 a barrel this week as a new normal settles in. However, the cost of oil remains volatile, with gas prices at their highest ever those who can switch to oil are doing so, leading to higher than normal demand over the winter period.

Many suppliers are unable to take on new bulk orders as they are fully booked for the next few weeks.

Brent Crude hits a two-month high passing $77 a barrel today, as oil inventories dwindle further and 20% of the Gulf of Mexico production is still off line due to Storm Ida.

Delivery times 7 to 12 days, but due to driver shortages in some areas these times are now an estimated delivery time, so please allow plenty of time for your order to be delivered. If you are low on heating oil this group order will not be suitable.

TIP: Supply chain delays are growing! We are already seeing a number of issues developing in the industry causing delays on deliveries, including driver shortages, a sharp increase in demand for oil, as well as production cuts. Delivery timelines are now heading up to 14 working days, so please be sure to order earlier than usual to ensure you don’t run out before a delivery can get to you.
Our recommendation to our members is now to order when you have 5+ weeks worth of oil left.

Around 80 percent of Gulf of Mexico oil production remains shut in after Hurricane Ida according to BSEE data, holding oil at around $73 a barrel for Brent Crude this week.

Delivery times 7 to 10 days, but due to driver shortages in some areas these times are now an estimated delivery time, so please allow plenty of time for your order to be delivered. If you are low on heating oil this group order will not be suitable.

TIP: Cut back any overgrown greenery – As we come to the end of the summer months, greenery is at its fullest. Therefore it is a good idea to cut back any overgrowth that may be surrounding your tank or obscuring access to your property, so that the tanker drivers are able to access your property, inspect whether the tank is safe, and to deliver your oil safely. Drivers are required to inspect at least 3 sides of a tank, and may not be able to successfully complete a delivery if this is not possible or their access is obscured.

Oil prices rebounded this week after a fatal fire on a major Mexican state-owned platform in the Gulf, which reduced oil production by more than 400,000 barrel per day. Brent Crude is back up to $72 a barrel.

TIP: Avoid Driver Shortages – We are aware of some concern from suppliers about potential driver shortages this winter, which could lead to much longer delivery times. Therefore, please ensure you order in plenty of time and don’t get caught out this winter.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Oil prices fell further on Friday for the seventh day in a row, the longest run of daily declines since 2019, amid growing concerns about global oil demand and an indication from the Fed it would ease its stimulus program. Brent crude down to $65 a barrel today.

TIP: Don’t get caught out in the cold this winter – please double check your tank is in good condition and your gauge is working correctly so you know you are going into the winter months with a healthy, safe tank.
It is worth doing a visual check of your tank now ahead of the upcoming cold months to ensure there are no sags, cracks or bulges in the tank, that the base of the tank is sturdy and adequate for the tank size and weight, and that the delivery drivers are able to see at least 3 sides of the tank when they do their visual inspections, to avoid any possible refused deliveries.
