Oil prices continued to slide on Friday morning, ending the month of May with the largest monthly drop since last November, as trade tensions weigh on investors outlook on the global economy and oil demand.

Brent oil prices ease slightly to $71.50 today as U.S. inventories increased by more than anticipated, offering evidence that the oil market is not as tight as expected. As a result we have only seen a small fall in kerosene rates this week.

Brent oil prices hit fresh highs for 2019, passing $74.50 a barrel in response to tougher US sanctions against Iran, before falling back to $72 today. With the May Day bank holiday coming up, please ensure you have ordered early and allow plenty of time for your delivery.

TIP : Upgrade your fuel to premium fuel with an Exocet additive. Exocet additives lower carbon emissions, stabilise fuel, inhibit sludge formation in the tank, and improve overall fuel performance. Brent Crude passes $72 a barrel today on reports Saudi Arabias crude oil production slumped to the lowest in two years as the Kingdom doubled down on efforts to boost prices.

Brent Crude passes $65 a barrel this week, the highest level since Nov 2018 as Opec said it tightened crude production cutting 800,000 barrels a day from its oil exports in January. If you are low on oil and could run out in the next few weeks, this order is not suitable. As this is a group order and suppliers are busy we are not able to make special requests.

TIP : Is your tank fit and healthy? Please do check its condition regularly to ensure there are no cracks or sags! If not ask your boiler engineer to have a look at the tank. Firms are required to ask their drivers to inspect the tank before delivery and may not deliver if they find an issue.

As the freezing weather continues, please ensure A) you have checked your oil levels and that your gauge is working? B) that you order as early as possible allowing plenty of time for delivery. 26 tonne trucks full of fuel are not able to get down roads covered in ice and snow! Delivery times are subject to weather conditions and supply.

After hitting a low of $50 a barrel over Christmas, crude continues its upward trend passing $60 a barrel today. If you are low on oil and could run out in the next few weeks, this order is not suitable. TIP : At this time of year ensure you have a full tank and don’t rely on your meter. Visually inspect your tank to confirm your oil level. After falling below $58 a barrel, Crude oil is back up to $62 this week as rumours that OPEC+ members are close to agreement on production cuts.

With just over six weeks to Christmas, please do check your tank levels. If you have not already filled up for the year or for Christmas, I would highly recommend doing so before the surge in pre-Christmas orders and seasonal rates cut in.

The good news is a renewed supply glut caused by surging U.S. shale production, plus higher output from Russia, Saudi Arabia, and other OPEC members, has more than offset the declines from Iran. Inventories climbed sharply in the U.S. and shale production has exceeded expectations leading to another fall in the price of crude this week which dropped below $70 a barrel today, the lowest since April.

TIP : Please order early and allow plenty of time for delivery. I recommend ordering oil when you have either 35/40% left in your tanks or six weeks supply in winter conditions. This helps ensure you do not run out and also ensures sludge and water at the bottom of the tank is not stirred up when new fuel is added

OPEC and the U.S. are together adding enormous volumes of new supply just as Iranian oil is going offline and ahead of US Midterm Elections helping to lower crude to below $73 a barrel today. Added to this, the pound climbed further amid optimism about a Brexit deal, all helping to reduce the cost of kerosene a little further this week.

Oil prices continue to fall, below $78 a barrel today, on fears of a slowdown in global growth and oil demand going forward, amid unstable emerging markets , rising dollar, trade wars, and tariffs all weighing on oil demand growth expectations. Rising U.S. inventories have also further dampened the mood. However, with the pound falling further against the dollar, any drop in the price of crude has been offset with the cost of kerosene similar to last week.

Oil prices fell to a one-month low on Wednesday, pushed down by a bearish report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration that showed a large increase in crude inventories. Looks like the U.S. are filling up for the winter too!

Despite this it will come as no surprise that the rate we have pay for our oil has not come down!

Rates this summer are round 40% higher than the same time last year. This is due in main to the cost of crude oil which remains in the high $70’s this week and means 500 litres is likely to cost £60 to £70 more this year than last. We are being advised that rates could stay at these levels for some time and in fact may increase further with all the global and political volatility at the moment coupled with increased demand for fuels. Now may therefore be a good time for the Summer Fill!

OPEC and Russia have agreed to raise output by 1 million barrels a day, hopefully ensuring oil prices do not go any higher for the moment. However the increase hasn’t immediately had the desired effect of reducing crude prices which have been trading around a four-year high with crude hovering around $74 a barrel today.
