Your donations to ‘Bags2School’ were incredible the entrance hall was covered by collection time on Tuesday. The PTA Cake Stall was well attended despite the disappointing weather. Thanks also to two individuals who donated plants and a fax/copier to school – thanks go to Mr Whitfield at Leatherbritches Nursery and Mr Rodgers of Ashover.

If children wish to enter they will need to pay their £1 on Monday 16th June. They will then be separated into spelling ability groups and heats will take place on Tuesday morning. The children who are successful in heats will take part in the final on Thursday. Alongside this competition we will be selling hot drinks, cakes and biscuits. We would appreciate any donations of cakes and biscuits for this event.
KS1 Sponsored Spell
The children in Mrs Black’s class will be doing a Sponsored Spell for the benefit of the school funds on Friday 20 June. The children will be bringing a sponsor form home to be returned on Friday 20 June (spelling test day). Children can be sponsored for each correct word or letter, or by donating a fixed amount.

Hockey Club
In order for children to get the best out of their after school hockey club we have decided to change the finishing time to 4.45pm. This gives us time to return to school from the playing fields. Please contact Miss Chatfield if this causes you any problems.
KS2 Trip to Chatsworth
Don’t forget to return permission slips and your voluntary contributions by Thursday 19 June. This trip has been partly funded by the Parwich Horticultural Society to whom we are extremely grateful.
Future School Visits
Rising costs of fuel mean that coach company prices have risen significantly in recent months which inevitably mean higher priced visits. School does not make a profit on any school visits and actually on our more recent trips we have made a loss, being a small school our budget is not tailored to withstand these types of deficits. In future should ‘voluntary contributions’ not cover the cost of the visit the visit will have to be cancelled.
Best wishes

Do you have SATS, End of Term Exams, GCSEs, A-Levels, Finals or one of the many many more types of EXAM coming up? Well … … …

It is difficult to know when to do this post as there are so many different lots of tests now in education. If you had your sats last week, well done you have survived, if you have them this week good luck. If you are coming up to GCSEs (Am I showing my age?) or A-levels, PARWICH.ORG’s especial good wishes. If you have your Finals at least these may be the last exams you ever have to take, and if they are not then you definitely will have no one but yourself to blame.
Let us know your exam survival tips.

There is uncertainty about the use of the Parwich Memorial Hall by the Peak District National Park Authority for some up coming public events.
The Authority’s Conservation Officers, as Parwich residents have been notified, have booked the Memorial Hall for the public consultation meeting on Tuesday (the 6th May). The Authority’s Legal and Democratic Services also booked the Hall for a Planning Appeal on the 25th May (as requested by the appellants), but have since said that the venue is not suitable because of the limited facilities for disabled people.
They have expressed concern about lack of a T-loop (though they have their own portable loop system), about the step (this ‘step’ is a change in levels between the tarmac and the concrete plinth in front of the door; this difference in levels runs from 5cm at the lower end to 2cm at the upper end) and the lack of designated disabled toilets (the ladies’ toilet will just accommodate a standard wheelchair, but the user is likely to require assistance). The new head, Caroline Rodgers, is due to start at Parwich Primary School after the Easter holidays. She is currently deputy head at Swanick Primary School and has also had several acting-headships. She is keen to build on the existing good relations with the community as a whole, and we want to take this opportunity to wish her and the School all the best.
