An article in yesterday’s Ashbourne News Telegraph indicated that Derbyshire County Council are considering turning off street lights in villages between midnight and 5-30am.
The first local village that could be effected is Brassingington that may see its streetlights off through the night as early as July this year. At present the plans for Parwich involve a ‘risk assessment’ to be undertaken in December of this year, followed by ‘community engagement’ in March 2013, with ‘installation’ (i.e. switching off) in May 2013. for more information see www.derbyshire.gov.uk/streetlights .
