Cheryl W reports:
Just to let you know that the road to Ashbourne are not good – even the A515 from the Bentley Brook (as at 8am)
Graham J reports (10:51):
Got to Harpur Hill (Buxton) this morning via Fenny Bentley in 4WD.
The A515 north is fine – well ploughed and gritted, but side roads are not that good in Buxton.
We have also received this update (at 8.20am) from Derbyshire Dales District Council:
It’s a pretty bleak picture in the Derbyshire Dales first thing Monday.
Some good news is that enough staff have somehow managed to get into our four leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth, so all are open for business, but please be aware that parking could well be a problem. Staff at Arc Leisure Matlock have managed to clear the driveway up to the lower pedestrian entrance, but the main car parks are not accessible.
Our weekly Bakewell stallmarket has been cancelled but the Monday livestock market at our Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell is apparently going ahead as planned.
So far as waste & recycling collections go, there’s no chance of our crews getting out onto the roads today. A supervisor has been out on today’s routes and it simply isn’t safe to do the collections, so we’ll be playing catch-up for the rest of this week. Our advice to residents is please leave your bins out and we’ll get to you just as soon as we can.
For conditions in and around Buxton, the reports at http://www.buxtonweather.co.uk/ are always helpful.
If you have any more information on road conditions and snow-related closures today, please let us know.

Thankyou, cant get to work today, but at least I can go for a swim. Brilliant.

Not sure I understand why the bins are now getting on for a week overdue being emptied……………?
Whoop-de-doo – so now not only did our bins not get emptied last week but they’re not likely to get emptied again this week either!
