Editor’s note: Is it actually an electronic tag in image one? Is it usual to tag cows?

The tag is likely to be a cow pedometer, used to measure activity levels and mainly used as a guide to when a cow is ready to be served. Cow “tags” can also be used to automatically identified cows in the parlour,to enable automatic feeding etc. Of course cows can also be milked by robots although I don’t there is anyone nearby who uses robots.
