Loan wanted
My sister and her daughter are coming to visit from France from Monday 25th August to Friday 29th August and I wonder whether anyone has a second stage child car seat we could borrow for those days. My niece is two and a half so the seat I am looking for is the bulky one – i.e. the one after you carry a baby in but before the one with a booster and a back. OK, so this is a long shot – but does anyone has a vinyl or cassette copy of the album Val Doonican Rocks, But Gently lurking in their attics? Although long since deleted (and unavailable on CD), this album not only topped the charts in early 1968, but it even knocked The Beatles’ classic Sergeant Pepper from the Number One position – proving that you should never underestimate the power of a crooner in a cardigan !
If you do own a copy, then please contact Mike Atkinson at parwich@hotmail.co.uk, as I would very much like to borrow it for a few days, in order to assist a friend’s research for a project.
As an added incentive, I will also make a donation to Project Parwich upon receipt of the album.

Can you help during the Flower Festival in Parwich Church (Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July)? The Church will be open from 11am to 6pm (Friday and Saturday) and from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday with refreshments served.
Volunteers are needed for one or two hour slots to act as stewards in the Church or to help with refreshments.
Also we are looking to borrow a number of largish glass carboys or demijohns to put in the church to collect visitors’ donations. Can you help, or do you have any suitable alternatives?

Marshals wanted for the Odd Fellows Parade on Wakes Saturday (28th June). Two or ideally three people are required to help control the traffic during the Parade on the Saturday morning, which starts at 9-45am at the Sycamore Inn.

Although there are a number of stalls planned for the market on the Green on Wakes Saturday (from 11am onwards, Saturday 28th June 2008), there is still room for more. Individuals or local groups interested in running a stall should contact the Carnival and Recreation Committee (phone Barbara L on tel 279).
It is a great opportunity for local groups to promote themselves and to undertake fund raising activities, or for crafts folk to sell their wares, or for whatever you can think of (as long as it is legal and not indecent).

Have you got a small wheelbarrow, with the main body being about 2 feet long (excluding the handles). If it looks old, rusty, a bit broken, wood or metal that would be perfect. We need to borrow one for one of the displays at the flower festival, can you help us out?

The last allotments in Parwich went at the end of the Second World War. However, a few people have expressed an interest in again finding a place locally to grow some vegetables. It could be an unused part of someone’s garden or part of a field. If anyone has any land that they would be happy for others to use (rent could be in kind: vegetables or a bit of gardening) or if you also want to find somewhere yourself in or around Parwich please email parwich@hotmail.co.uk and we will pass the information on.

As a direct result of the classified advert which I placed on PARWICH.ORG last Wednesday, I have just handed over two tickets to see The Osmonds in Birmingham tonight, in exchange for a £40 donation to Project Parwich.

Due to unforseen circumstances, I have a spare pair of tickets to see The Osmonds at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena (NIA) on Bank Holiday Monday (May 26th).
I’m offering the tickets at the knock-down rate of £20 each, which is less than half the original asking price. The money will be paid directly to Project Parwich, so this is a great chance to enjoy a night out and do your bit for the Memorial Hall.
This will also be no ordinary Osmonds show! To celebrate their 50th anniversary in show business, the whole family – Donny, Jimmy, Marie, Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay – will be reunited on stage in the UK for the first time in over twenty years. So if you fancy rolling back the years to the strains of Crazy Horses, Love Me For A Reason, Let Me In, Puppy Love, Paper Roses… and yes, even Long Haired Lover From Liverpool, then this is the show for you.
The seats are situated on the lower tier of Block 4, in row J. Click here to view the seating plan. Unlike the cavernous Birmingham NEC, the NIA seats a relatively modest 4,500 people, so the view of the stage should be a good one.

We have a dozen antique oak beams that are left over from our house renovation. We believe they are around 400 years old, and were removed from a barn when it was renovated in Winster, so are presumably local in origin.
They vary in length to over 10 ft. with varying diameters of 6 to over 8 inches. If anyone knows anyone who could use them, we are looking for offers around £250 for the lot, with any buyer removing them.
