The organisers announced today on Facebook that because of ongoing Covid restrictions they have decided not to go ahead with the 2021 Y-Not Festival, but look forward to staring their planning for 2022.

Their website does not yet appear to have been updated, but presumably more details will follow, see https://ynotfestival.com/

  • Pikehall 70%

These are the results so far (recorded at 4pm Sunday 27th Sept).

Derbyshire County Council’s consultation on the idea of 20mph speed limits in some (as yet unspecified) residential areas in the County ends next Wednesday (30th September). Click here if you want to find out more about the consultation or participate on line.

The Council plan to enter into further consultation with any neighbourhoods if they consider introducing specific schemes. However this is something that has been raised a number of times in the past both with Parwich Parish Council and here at Parwich.org, so what do you think?

We encourage you to respond directly to DCC’s consultation, but we will also forward any comments added to this post and responses to the polls below to the Council next Wednesday.

Although temporarily derailed by a serious thunderstorm on Friday night, which caused power to all the stages to be temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure, this year’s sold-out Y Not Festival was once again a great success. Here are a selection of tweets and videos from the weekend.

Y-Not Festival 2013

ynot2013

The annual Y-Not Festival returns to Pikehall on Friday 2nd August, and runs until Sunday 4th August.

As two of last year’s acts – Jake Bugg and Bastille – have since topped the UK albums chart with their debut releases, this is clearly a great place to spot up-and-coming talent. Acts are still being added to the line-up, which already includes The Cribs, The Horrors, The Enemy and Ash. Further down the bill, perennial festival favourites Naymedici and King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys are making welcome returns – and who knows, maybe Hazel B and The A52s will be rocking the acoustic tent again?

Tickets, which are for the full weekend only, can be bought from the official festival website – but if you’re 12 or under, then congratulations: you can get in for free!

Now in its 7th year, Y Not is a festival whose annual growth is perpetual. Like a fine wine, it matures with age, and Y Not is now indelibly marked on the summer festival calendar; it’s no longer the tiny gathering in the Peak District that it once was.

The Nottingham Post have published an excellent – and very detailed – review of last weekend’s Y-Not festival. Click here to read it.

Parwich based singer songwriter Hazel B treated the Y Not Festival to a heartfelt and true to the heart performance on Friday.

The audience was captivated by Hazel’s self-penned songs, delivered with a refreshingly honest emotion. We hope to see her play the festival again next year.

Update: Here are some further excellent photos of Hazel’s performance, courtesy of Martin H:

New day for next week’s Pilates

Pilates will be on Tuesday 31st July and NOT Monday 30th at 7pm – the timings will remain unchanged.

Hopefully all class members will all be able to attend. The day has changed so that Mike Goulden’s wake does not have a time restriction.

I have also arranged two summer classes on the 6th and 13th August starting at 6.30pm. Thanks Sue P

Tickets are still on sale for this year’s Y-Not Festival, which takes place from Friday August 3rd to Sunday August 5th at the usual location in Pikehall. The festival has expanded since its early days, with several indoor stages, an acoustic tent, an excellent beer tent and much more besides, but it still retains its friendly, small-scale atmosphere. As the organisers report that they are now close to selling out, swift action is recommended for those who might be interested.

Click here for the Y-Not Festival website.

Update: Also performing at Y-Not, in the Hog & Barrel tent at 7pm on the Saturday, will be Parwich’s very own The A52s.
