Earlier this year Ian Pitts, metal detecting in Hallcliffe garden, found a small gold signet ring. With the date from the hallmarks I started ringing round the previous occupants of the house.
Today the ring was taken to Malcolm and Ruth in Alstonfield, who confirmed it had been made for Ruth by her parents out of gold from the wedding rings of both her grandmothers. The ring was inscribed with Ruth’s initials, but these are very worn and only identifiable under a magnifying glass. Their oldest son particularly remembers how distressed his mother was when the ring was lost. Certainly she was pleased to get it back after some 25 to 30 years.

What a lovely story.
that is amazing. this story made my day.
My sister (mother of Mikey Hughes at Rookery House) lost her wedding ring about 40 plus years ago in her garden in Warwickshire… let us hope that turns up in a similar way.
