Welcome to Parwich to Lynn C and family, it is always good to have new contributors:
My son and his girlfriend were climbing at Cheedale (Wye Valley) yesterday and found a young buzzard with a broken wing at the base of the cliff. With only a blue IKEA bag to capture and carry the buzzard, they beat a hasty retreat back to McMurtry & Harding in Ashbourne. We thought people may like to see a close up shot of the bird. We are waiting to hear how the buzzard recovers.

Lynne – your son and his girlfriend showed much kindness and generosity in helping this beautiful young bird recover from its injury. Well done and much respect indeed. Looking forward to a progress report.

Thank you for your kind words Anthony. Unfortunately we just heard that the buzzard did not make it, there were other complications and it deteriorated on Sunday.

Hi Lynn,
Sorry the Buzzard did not make it. I quite agree with Anthony though. At least your son & his girlfriend tried & also possibly saved the poor thing from being eaten alive by a fox or similar. I once rescued a Moor hen a few years ago on a cold icy afternoon. It was in the middle of the road with a Range Rover thundering towards it with no intention of stopping till I blocked the road with my car! I look the Moor hen home & it lived in my cat basket for 2 weeks eating blueberries & crumbled ryvita, nursing its broken toe. I released it back to near its pond & friends near Flaxdale Holdings & it used to answer me when I called out its name (Morris) for ages after I released it.
I wish more people would stop and help injured animals. Someone recently run my much loved cat over & killed him on pump hill and didn’t even bother to stop. As if they hadn’t heard the thud! Callous & Disgusting!

Gosh, sorry to hear that.
