Maintenance of Sheepwash and Jubilee Pond

The Parish Council wants to have material removed from the Sheepwash and Jubilee Pond to reduce the risk of flooding in the future and improve their appearance.
A tender form for a three year contract has been created on the Parish Council website which can be seen here.

Tennis court drainage.

Work has begun to improve the drainage around the tennis courts so that they are not flooded by the spring in the field above in future years. The tennis courts will not be available while this work is carried out. Please be aware that the contractors will be using machinery and vehicles for this work so please do not approach them while they are working.

The next meeting of Parwich Parish Council will be held on Wednesday the 16th June 2021 at 7:30 pm in the Memorial Hall.
This will be followed by the Parish Annual Meeting. Village Organisations are invited to submit a written report for the past year to be added to the Parish Council’s Website Archive if they wish, rather than attend in person.

Caravans on Parsons Croft

The Parish Council would just like to let residents know that on Friday 11th June we will be welcoming Sheffield Caravan Club back to Parsons Croft after a year’s absence. They will be making their own arrangements to run the site within the guidelines for managing the risk of coronavirus infection.
Notts Caravan Club will also be returning for Wakes Week although the usual joint activities are not expected to be possible.
Village Clean Up Day Tomorrow

It’s that time again! If you can spare an hour or two tomorrow (Sunday) morning please come the the bus shelter around ten or just find us around the village. Bring your own ideas and tools if you want or find ask of us who will help you find something to do. Gardening, litter picking, kerb weeding and putting up benches are all possible. Litter pickers amd bags will be available for those who want them.
All nice and outdoors and socially distanced.

Please note that the next meeting of Parwich Parish Council will be held on Wednesday the 16th June 2021 at 7:30 pm in the Memorial Hall.
In accordance with current legislation this meeting will be held in person. Measures to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection will be in place.
The Parish Annual Meeting will be held at the same time. It is anticipated that the normal business of the Parish Annual Meeting will be largely covered by reports submitted and published on-line rather than presented in person in order to reduce the numbers attending and the length of the meeting.
Notwithstanding the above, members of the public are permitted to attend either, or both, meetings in person if they wish.

Cricket Pavilion on Parsons Croft

The cricket pavilion on Parsons Croft currently has very little use. But unfortunately it is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain.
This problem has been further compounded by a recent inspection which has confirmed the presence of asbestos cement wall panelling in its construction.

Tree Felling and Fire Wood

On Saturday the 31st October two trees at the Millennium Green on the bank above Rowan Cottage are planned to be cut down for safety reasons. At this time the contractors still intend to go ahead but this may be subject to the weather conditions on the day.
Some of the wood, cut small enough to be safely taken away by wheel barrow will be left on the Green for anyone who wishes to take it away for fire wood. Anyone wishing to collect some of this wood must wait until the contractors have completely cleared the site. Please take are when collecting any wood. If you chose to take any wood this will be taken as acceptance that you are doing so at your own risk. If you are collecting wood no vehicles should be taken onto the Green or allowed to block the road.
Any wood left in the driveway of Rowan Cottage is not for public collection.

Sunday Village Clean-up Day

The Clean up day planned for Sunday the 25th October will be going ahead with minor variations to comply with restrictions due to Covid 19.
Please come to the bus shelter at 10:00am or find a member of the Council to discuss what you would like to do. There are opportunities for litter picking, playground maintenance and management of vegetation.
We will aim to finish by 12:00.
Due to Covid 19 there will be no refreshments provided.
Would participants please see the Risk Assessment posted on the Parish Council’s website and note in particular the footnote which reminds everyone that.
“For the safety of all, Parwich Council expects volunteers to familiarise themselves with parts of this risk assessment relevant to any task they undertake and follow the associated control measures.”

Village Clean up day. Save the date!

At last week’s meeting of the Parish Council the lack of a clean up day in the village this year was discussed. It was decided that the Council should be able to hold a suitably risk assessed and distanced clean up day to address most of the usual tasks despite the coronavirus restrictions. This will probably involve a little more pre-planning of who might do what than usual – but hopefully also make the most of flexibility around volunteers and weather on the day too.
The main date chosen for this is Sunday 25th October. It may also be possible/appropriate for individual tasks to be carried out on other days.

Final arrangements will be confirmed at the parish Council meeting on the 21st of October.
