The need for up to five new affordable dwellings in Parwich has previously been established.

The process for delivering this, if possible, is being led by Derbyshire Dales District Council who are the Housing Authority.
On Wednesday the 16th of November the Derbyshire Dales Housing Enabler, Peak District National Park planners and the Peak District Rural Housing Association visited Parwich to familiarise themselves with open spaces in, and around, the village. Two councillors and the Clerk guided them around the village and offered local knowledge, when available, about current land use and ownership.
Their aim was to visit ALL areas in, and on the edge, of the main settlement. This is the first step in gathering information which might establish which, if any, site might be suitable for new housing.
The next step will be for them to review what they have observed, gather further information and decide if they think there are any sites which,
- The Planning Authority would be likely to consider granting planning permission for.
- The Housing Association consider could be economically developed.
If there is such a site, they will approach the owner of the land to see if they would be willing to make it available. And if the land could be made available then plans can be drawn up to be submitted for formal planning approval.
When, and if, a proposal gets this far residents will have their normal right to input to the planning process, before a decision is made, as to whether approval should be granted.
Although no site has been formally ruled in, or out, at this time it was indicated that,
- The Planning Authority would only consider developments which include two off road parking spaces per dwelling.
- The Housing Association would be unlikely to consider building less than five dwellings in a single location to be financially viable.
The Parish Council does not expect to be updated on any further progress until the new year at the earliest.
This, and previously shared, information on affordable housing can all been seen in the news section of the Parish Council’s website.
