Stepping Stones pre-school are holding a Pea and Pie supper and Family Quiz on Saturday 11 February at 7:30pm in the Memorial Hall.

Tickets are priced at Adults £5.50 and Children £2.50.

Stepping Stones is a registered charity and although we receive some finding for the children we do rely heavily on donations and fundraising. The pre-school is run by a very small committee of mums and we all work extremely hard to ensure that the pre-school keeps going to provide a very valuable learning environment for children of ages 2-5 from the village and surrounding farms. So your support is extremely valuable and very much appreciated.

Tickets from Tracy Fentem, Vicky Yeomans and Gill Harrison

Just a quick reminder if anyone has anything for the tombola or bric-a-brac stall for the Pre-school Christmas Fayre please contact Katy or drop off at the hall before 9am. We are also in need of an adult male santa suit, so if anyone has one we could borrow for Saturday that would be great.

This week’s Stunner

Here’s our pick of this week’s stories of local interest. You can read the full newspaper online, browse the week’s main news stories, or buy a copy from Janet at the shop.

Page 5:Outstanding across the board at pre-school.

Many congratulations to Parwich Stepping Stones, who have been given an “outstanding” review by Ofsted. Stepping Stones were awarded the highest possible grade in every one of the 17 categories.

Tracy Marshall, chair of the school committee, said: “The committee has put in an exceptional amount of hard work in to achieving this standard and thoroughly deserve it, especially so as we have recently undertaken a mammoth task of moving premises within the last 12 months.”

On the Stunner’s Twitter stream (@AshbourneNews), the paper tweeted that Stepping Stones was “the first in the area I’ve ever seen get outstanding grades across the board. Incredible!”

Pages 20-21: “Celebrating St. George.”

A splendid two-page photo spread on Sunday’s celebrations.

Page 22: There’s a reminder for Saturday’s May Day concert in St Peter’s Church, featuring the Essentially Brass Quintet and organist Christian Cartwright. Call 529 for tickets.

There is a wonderful display of Christmas trees in the Church, decorated by the different societies, groups and individuals in the village.  An enormous amount of effort has gone into this and if you haven’t already been in to have a look, please do.

Remember it is the Crib Service on Thursday at 4pm, everyone is extremely welcome.

The Stepping Stones Pre-school have been doing lots of lovely things and they would like to share some photos with us.

After a walk around Parwich when the children were looking for signs of Spring, they then made these pictures of trees.

The children went on a visit to Ashbourne Library for a special ‘Storytime’ after which the children enjoyed choosing books to take home. The squash and biscuits were popular too!  There is now a display of their work in the children’s section of the library.  Why not pop in and have a look.

Pre School Event

On Monday morning the children of Stepping Stones Pre-School showed how much they appreciate us Mums (and Grandmas), by inviting us along and showcasing  their paintings of their Mums and telling us why they love us.

(My special talent apparently, is making dinner. Thank you Wyatt x)

Then as if that wasn’t enough, they treated us to refreshments: homemade fairy and butterfly cakes and orange juice, all aided by their very special supervisors, Penny and Felicity.

The whole event left all of the Mums feeling very special, and quite rightly so!!!

– Tracy Marshall.
