All of us here at Parwich.org would like to extend our sympathies to Evie, Alice, Lucy and Paul. Paul B, an active participant in our community, was also a very active supporter and contributor to the Parwich Blog from the start. His Weedkiller Weekly column and cartoons at times pushed the boundaries (click here to see all the Weedkiller posts), but always had a band of loyal readers. Perhaps we should read a few so we can attend his funeral with a smile on our faces:

Thursday 26th November 1pm at St Peter’s Church in Parwich there will be a Service of Remembrance (following a private family service at the crematorium). ‘Funeral attire is strictly optional’ and the Service will be followed by refreshments at the Legion and the Memorial Hall.

Lots of people generously gave up their time, donated produce and spent their money!!! As a result we managed to raise £390.50 for the Welfare Fund!

Well Done Churchyard Team

I would just like  to say one or two thank yous to some of the few who gave of their time to sort out the piece of ground in the Church yard . These people who worked so hard to shift 20 tons of limestone rock that were hidden in all that piece of overgrown land. Who dug out by hand yards and yards of weed root, who dug and raked the land until it was fit for re-seeding. Stuart C. / Mick E /Howard M and Ian B .  Mick was kind enough to bring his digger down on site, Phil Kirkham was also kind enough to make available his dumper and not forgetting Patti and Brian who loaned us their chain- harrow. Well done team on a cracking achievement.

Churchyard Transformation

image

St Peter’s Churchyard always looks smart, but currently the new section is seeing a dramatic transformation. The mammoth ‘compost heap’ that had been growing out of control for some years is gone!

A big thank you to all who put so much work into the Churchyard.

This Year at Tissington

Yesterday, Ascension Day, saw the start of this year’s Tissington Well Dressings. Thank you John F-S for these photos:

Despite yesterday’s hold ups on the A515, let’s hope Tissington has an excellent time. The Dressings remain in place until next Wednesday.
