Missing Cat

I’m a Parwich Cat I do go for a wonder every now and then, but always go home for my tea, but I haven’t been home for a couple of nights now.

Could people please check garages/sheds and out houses in case I’ve got locked inside by mistake.

And if anyone sees me please call 07464 615 902 to let them know where I am.

Derbyshire Dales District Council has confirmed that parking will be free from 12 noon in its Ashbourne pay & display car parks from this coming Monday, 11 August, for the remainder of the six-week school summer holidays until 7 September.

Sunglasses found

We found a Rayban style pair of sunglasses in the fields between the Bradbury’s farm and Parwich Lees. Possibly lost by a PP5 runner?

PP5 Results and Thanks!

Please can you do a big shout out to all those who helped with the PP5 last night. Event went smoothly with the largest number of entrants in the 17 year history.

Thanks to The Sycamore for allowing us to use the garden for race HQ.

Over £600 has been raised for the Memorial Hall.

Bowls Team On A Purple Patch

There’s just no stopping Parwich at the moment. High-flying in both leagues having won nine out of our last twelve outings with promotion still achievable in both; it’s all there in black and white, and no two ways about it, we’re seeing red and going for gold.

Since my last report, on Thursdays we’ve recently given Matlock Park, Whitworth, Wirksworth and Chatsworth the blues, and can only hope that our friends from neighbouring clubs don’t leave our Village particularly browned off – though maybe a little green with envy. Some of these have been thumping wins, Baslow in particular was a triumph for us when all pulled out the stops under azure and orange July skies to win 148 to 115, and at Wirksworth we were in the pink after prevailing 135 to 84 on an arena that’s not always been kind to us over the years. (Well, it merited a celebration for some of us in The Rising Sun on the way home.)

In the Tuesday League why we’re not further up is a grey area. We find ourselves in fourth by only a single point; 1056 to Bradwell’s 1057. Following the narrowest of a two-point slip-up at Matlock Bath and excepting a substantial loss at the in-form Tideswell, we have won the past four games on the trot – including a maximum point win at home to Bakewell last week.

Tonight, despite yellow warnings for winds and rain, we head to Bradwell, hopefully to continue our onward march, while Thursday we’re back at home for the visit of Youlgrave, and some epic battles against them we’ve certainly enjoyed in the past. Two more home games follow next week with us preparing to entertain Matlock Bath and Matlock Park.

Any support would always be welcome, and why not try this most absorbing of games for yourself at one of the Sunday practice sessions? Who knows, it may even bring a hint of colour to your cheeks.

Village Show

I’m taking part in the Chatsworth 10k to help raise money for this amazing charity. Please take a minute to read about their work:

Blythe House Hospice offers counselling and bereavement support for any child aged from 4 to 18 years old whose loved one has died or who is living with a life-limiting illness. They also support patients, families and carers living across Derbyshire.

In addition to that they provide high quality 24/7 end of life care at home, offering patients at all stages of illness, family members and carers counselling; physio, occupational therapy, group support, specialist palliative clinics and nursing services.

Blythe House has, and still is providing support for us and so many other families who have suffered the loss of a parent or loved one. The guidance and support we’ve received has been the light at the end of the tunnel, they are a cup of tea when you really need one, they are a peaceful space to access invaluable help and advice from experienced counsellors.

Please donate what you can to help this amazing charity to continue to support children and families.

💐Parwich Flower Festival💐

Thank you to everyone who came to support us on Sunday. The church was full of flowers and looked incredible! We had lots of visitors, even though the weather could have been a little kinder. Tea and cakes were enjoyed, and the day went very well.

The flowers are in church until Saturday morning of this week.
