Fancy your chance at Floral Art? In this year’s Horticultural Show you can enter a floral arrangement in an egg cup, an arrangement on the theme Up the Garden Path – or how about having a go at a new idea for this year and use a fruit or vegetable as a container for an arrangement?

Aviva Cycle Tour

We have received the following from DDC:
Get ready for the world’s top cyclists in Derbyshire
The race features 20 cycling teams including Team Sky, Etixx Quick Step and Team Cannondale Garmin. Team Wiggins will also take part alongside the Great Britain Cycling Team.
And top British rider Mark Cavendish has just announced he is to take part in the race, as part of the Etixx Quick Step Team.
Stage 6 leaves Stoke at 10.30am, before it heads into Derbyshire. The route takes in Buxton, Whaley Bridge, Chapel-enl-e-Frith, the Hope Valley, Stoney Middleton, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Matlock, Cromford, Carsington, Belper and Ilkeston and then onto the finish in Nottingham. (more…)

Open the Safe Concludes

Last night saw the finale of ‘Open the Safe’ – with someone being guaranteed to win the £2,047 jackpot!
With seven keys remaining, seven tickets were drawn – one for each remaining key, as follows:
1. Kelly Hicton
2. Paul and Evie
3. Alison Buckley
4. Becky Dale
5. Sam Edge
6. Richard Jewett
7. Joe from the Bentley Brook
The keys were selected in the order that the tickets were drawn. Kelly’s key was unsuccessful, but big congratulations go to Paul and Evie, as Rachel selected them the winning key!!!!!!

Open the Safe has raised £311 for the Poppy Appeal! The Legion would like to thank everyone who participated and all those that have supported the event. Open the Safe will return later in the year.

Another great Wakes week is over. A very big thank you to The Carnival & Recreation Committee, the OddFellows, the Legion, the Sycamore Inn, the Church, the Memorial Hall and everyone who put so much hard work into making things run so smoothly.
