Lesley Bott has sent this email in.

A black and white cat appeared at the buildings on my field around 3 ½ weeks ago. It was (and still is) in good condition and is friendly and obviously used to people. (Been someone’s pet.) I have been feeding it for the last 3 weeks or so, after it had been there for a couple of days.

I think the cat is a female and is quite a big cat and unevenly marked. (Black splodge over one eye.)

Please could you give me a call on 390554 if you know whose it is?

P.S. It is not the cat that has recently appeared on the ‘lost’ posters around Carsington. That one is back with its relieved owner.

Anyone for milk?

Poppy has gone out to grass and her milk yield has increased. Is there anyone who would like to try some raw Jersey milk? I call into the village every day to deliver milk to a group of stalwart Poppy milk drinkers but if anyone else would like to try it, please contact me on 01629 540320 or email the blog team. This is free – better than pouring the excess down the drain! Fiona

Pupdate!

The Parwich puparazzi were kindly invited once more into Jill L’s home to find out how Maisy’s puppies are getting on.

We are delighted to report Brizzle, Isla, Digger, Sam, Oscar and Nelson are all doing swimmingly. They have been eating well and on nice days have been exploring the yard outside. They have had a big day out today to get their injections.

In two weeks time, the pups will all be heading for good homes as far afield as Scotland. Nelson will be going to the daughter of a friend of Jill’s in her walking group, so he will be able to go for long walks with mum and grandma.

Finally, Jill wishes to make an appeal to the village. For the next two weeks, if you have any spare newspaper, she would be very very grateful for it! Drop it round at Wheatsheaf Cottage.

We lost our lovely cat Funston (who was a wanderer by nature – he spent a lot of time in the church yard) to accidental anti-freeze poisoning. Apparently, anti-freeze tastes very sweet to animals and children, and it is fairly commonly ingested by both.

I Googled it, and it only takes an animal to walk through spilt anti-freeze, then lick their paws to be affected. I had no idea of this – I’ve merrily filled up with washer screen fluid in my car in the past, and not given it too much thought when it has slopped onto the driveway in the process.

I wanted to share this with people, to avoid this happening to another pet or, God forbid, a child. I’m very thankful to my neighbour who found Funston, and rushed him to the vet (I wasn’t home). We have some very kind people in this village.

Lost cat collar

Debbie W writes:

My cat has lost his brand new collar!

It is very distinctive: red with little pirates on, and a tag with a pirate cat which reads BOB 390568.

Lord knows where it is, but I’d love to have it back.

Thanks,
Debs

Cool for Cats

Thomas the pub cat is no mug. Whilst ‘normal’ cats would be content to sleep on the floor, this particular moggy has made himself at home in a traditional thatched cottage!

From his vantage point, he can survey The Sycamore’s customers as they relax in front of the pub. Woe betide any bird who may think this particular birdhouse was made for birds!

Missing cat

Cheryl Woolley’s cat Bernadette (Bernie) has gone missing. Bernie was last seen on Thursday. She is black, slim and very shy – so she will run away if approached.

Could people please check their garages and outhouses, and maybe leave the door ajar for ten minutes so that she can make her way out.

Any information mailed to the blog team at parwich@hotmail.co.uk will be passed straight to Cheryl.

Home Sheep Home?

Two weeks ago, one of Ben C’s sheep had three lambs. Mum couldn’t produce enough milk for them all, so Sandra C took two of the lambs into her care. A disused kitchen cupboard was filled with straw and the lambs took up residence in the kitchen. An intensive programme of feeding began.  In the beginning, Sandra and Ben fed the lambs every two hours day and night.

Two weeks later, both lambs are doing well…and the feeding is down to just (!) four times a day.

Luckily, Jasper the family dog has been very tolerant and can be found playing with the gambolling sisters.

In another month, these lambs will be ready to leave the house and head for the fields. In the meantime, we think we’d be hard pressed to find two cuter household animals in all of Parwich!

Hi following our posting last week regarding has ‘Anyone Found a chocolate and cream cat?’ – as some of you may have noticed by our subsequent comment we found Sasha but she’s been quite badly injured.

She’s back home now, and we’ve borrowed a puppy crate from the vets, but as she needs to be in there for approximately 6 weeks were wondering if anyone has a crate that we can borrow. The crate needs to be large enough for her bed, litter tray and food and water bowls. If anyone has one that we could borrow for this period of time that would be great.

Regards
Keeley

Emails to parwich@hotmail.co.uk will be forwarded

We’ve not seen our cat Sasha since early yesterday evening, which is unusual as she is generally never far from the house – and never misses breakfast!

She is a long haired birman, with a chocolate face, ears and legs, and a lighter coffee coloured body.  She’s extremely friendly and approachable and is wearing a collar with a name and identity tag with our contact details.  If anyone has spotted her, could you please call me on 07515 702265.

Thanks for your help – Keeley

Grey cat found

Has anyone lost a smokey grey cat (young male)? The cat looks well cared for, and has obviously not been out in the wild for any length of time.

I noticed a cat miaowing outside our door last night, and it didn’t want to go away. I let it in, in case it had been abandoned. It stayed overnight, even though we have a cat flap where it could have gone out. I put the cat out this morning when I went to work, and have come back this evening and it’s still here.

Does anyone own, or know who owns this cat – please contact the website (parwich@hotmail.co.uk ) to be re-united with your cat.

Thanks for your help.

Keeley

A new home for Dodo.

As a result of last Thursday’s post (“Does anyone have a home for Dodo?“), Dodo has now taken up residence in our neighbourhood.

Tracey F reports:

I have spent two days trying to get a good picture of our new dog. However, she doesn’t stand or sit still for more than a second!

She is getting on really well, and hasn’t chewed anything yet other than her dog toys. She is really good with the children and our other dog, and we are really pleased that we decided to have her.

The Wonders of the Blog!!

Is this “match” a first for the Parwich blog?

Thanks to the blog Millie the Guinea pig has moved to Birchover to start a new life with Ruby the Guinea pig, also recently bereaved. They found our posting on the blog by googling “Derbyshire guinuea pig” – the wonders of modern technology!

We are left with a hutch and a run if anyone wants them. The run is particularly solid having been passed to us by the Websters about 6 years ago, who were not its original owners! We don’t want any money for them.

Guinea Pig dilemma

Guinea PigOne of our guinea pigs has recently died of old age leaving her 2 year old companion Millie.  We do not want to get rid of her; but equally do not want her to be on her own.  We are reluctant to get another young guinea pig friend for her; as we are nearing the end of our guinea pig years and if we keep replacing one, can’t quite see how it will end!  Does anyone also have a guinea pig in need of companionship who would like Millie?  She is used to over wintering in a frost free greenhouse (in her hutch) and going out, weather permitting, in a run on the grass in the day.  Both hutch and run could go with her to a good home.   Rebecca 318

A mystery villager seems to have interfered with the nice smooth concrete painstakingly smoothed out by workmen who are constructing the new substation. A team of crack investigators have been working to determine who might have done such a dastardly deed. DNA evidence has been taken, the area has been checked for fingerprints and CC camera footage from around Parwich has been examined. All to no avail.

If anyone has any idea who the identity of this individual may be, please let us know. Click on ‘continue reading’ to see the evidence…..

Who are the Pets of Parwich?

Calling all pet owners!

We would like to know more about the pets of Parwich, Alsop, Pikehall and Ballidon – so please send your photos to parwich@hotmail.co.uk

We’d also like to know something about who your pets are. For instance:
* What are their names?
* Why did you choose those names?
* Do they belong to a particular breed?
* Where did they come from?
* What strange quirks do they have?

If we receive any funny or unusual photos, we might also use them in a caption competition.

All those computer-literate kids in the village might like to join in on this one! So please, take a photo of your pet and send it to us, with lots of interesting information about your pet.  We will only publish your first name – or no name at all if you prefer – and not your surname. (And please, do get your parent’s permission first.)

6 weeks later…

Six weeks ago an article was posted onto the blog about Jill’s just-born pups… this is now stage two! Charlie, Archie, Lottie, Lochan and Daisy turned six weeks old yesterday and are all well…and rather lively! All of them have found new homes to go to when they turn eight weeks old or so but until then it’ll be Jill looking after them – which brings me onto another plea for newspaper from her! So if you have any old newspapers she would be very grateful if you could pass them on to her – five puppies just seem to use up so much!
