Parwich and District Horticultural Society would like to thank all those who submitted such delicious and beautiful entries at the Autumn Show. The following photos taken by John Lord give an idea of the talent and green fingers of local people.
Once again we enjoyed the collaboration of Parwich Primary School with their poster designs for Well Dressings.
The Parwich & District History Society recently led a walk around the historic village of Bradbourne and the surrounding area.
The weather was stunning and we had a great turnout! Thank you to all those who joined us on the day… if you missed it, you can find out more here on our new look website.

Bradbourne Mill was acquired as a ruin some years ago and was restored and converted into accommodation. Since then it has changed hands and the new owners have done more restoration work and investigated the history.
They are offering the Parwich and Local District History Society a private tour and talk on 18th July (10am meet), to look round the building and the site and hopefully see some of the machinery in action.
There are a few places left… If you are interested please email parwich.history.society@gmail.com by 5pm 16th July.
The last remaining annuals will be on sale for the next fortnight. Come and save them from their fate in the compost bin! To date you have helped PDHS raise over £200 which in turn will be used to support other groups and societies in the village.
A lovely sunny summer’s afternoon saw another very successful Parwich Open Gardens. Our many visitors, who’d travelled from near and far were full of compliments for the gardens and the warm welcome they received. Thank you so much to everyone in helping to make this such a special day in the village calendar which once again has raised several thousand pounds that we shall be able to share among other Parwich clubs and organisations.
Many thanks too to John L for his fantastic photos that have captured the day perfectly.
Every year Buxton Museum run a series of talks as part of Buxton Festival Fringe. A highlight this year is a talk about some of the archaeological treasure recently found in Derbyshire, including the Parwich Hoard. The talk is free on Wednesday 12th July at 1pm.
The Parwich & District Local History Society is also planning an event to show case the Hoard…
The Parwich and District Local History Society website has had a make-over! You can find our new look website with existing items brought over from our previous site plus some new content at parwichhistory.org.
The new content includes a write up of the Society’s recent walk around Minninglow and Royston Grange… a big thank you to everyone who joined us for the walk, and particular thanks to Luke, Ruth and family for providing the lovely refreshments and providing a guided tour of your lovely homestead.
The Society is already planning more walks and other events… so if you’d like to hear more why not join our circulation list by sending us an email at: Parwich.History.Society@gmail.com
Each year village organisations are invited to provide an annual report for the Parish Annual meeting held in May. These are archived on the Parish Council’s website.
