Good morning all and Happy New Year.

Reaching out to advise that we have now enabled near 200 premises in Parwich village with Full Fibre services. Having been in the village last Friday it’s clear that people are aware of the scheme and looking forward to the new services which is great news.

As mentioned before Christmas, we are still short on our funding target which means there is a risk that we won’t be able to provide Full Fibre services to the other communities (Alsop en le Dale and Pikehall) and premises connected to the Parwich exchange. I therefore ask that you help promote the scheme and encourage people to pledge their support for the scheme if they are intending to order services. Information attached.

Latest from Derbyshire Dales District Council…

Due to the continuing cold weather, which means accessing some areas of the Dales remains challenging, there are still areas which have not and may not get bins collected on your scheduled collection day.

Crews are out, attempting to collect scheduled & outstanding collections where it is safe to do so. We will also have some crews out on Saturday working to recover the rounds that we have been unable to complete.

The recovery will continue on Monday so consequently, there still may be delays in collections next week.

The big message to all residents continues to be if you have not received your collection yet, please leave your bins/sacks presented and we will collect these as soon as possible.

Food waste collections that have been missed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, will not be recovered until next week’s scheduled food waste collections.

Garden waste collections re-commence next week.

A big thank you to our crews who continue to work hard in these difficult conditions.

Further update from Derbyshire Dales District Council…

Unfortunately, this week’s continuing weather conditions are making it difficult to access all areas. Despite our best efforts, there are still areas which have not and may not get their bins collected on their scheduled collection day. You do not need to report this, as we are keeping track.

Refuse/recycling lorries weigh up to 26 tonnes and the drivers must ensure complete safety of pedestrians, property and other vehicles when deciding if to collect from a street during icy conditions.

Crews are out attempting to collect today’s scheduled collections, in the locations they can safely access.

If collections are delayed due to cold weather, you can help us resume normal collections quicker by following these tips:

• Keep bin lids fully closed, this will stop snow and rain from getting in the bin and keep the contents from freezing. Our crews will shake the bins several times to release the contents, but some waste may remain stuck in extreme conditions.
• Check regularly that your bin lid is not frozen and can be opened easily. If your bin cannot be opened, it cannot be emptied.
• Where possible, please keep areas around your bins free from snow and ice.

The message to all residents continues to be – *If you have not received your collection yet, please leave your bins / sacks presented and we will collect these as soon as possible.*

Owing to weather conditions the mobile library will not be able to visit Parwich tomorrow Friday 10^th January.

Next month Martin will be on leave, so the next visit to Parwich will be Friday 7^th March.

Update from Derbyshire Dales District Council

Serco and the Council waste officers have been out this morning, jointly reviewing and monitoring the condition of the roads around the district.

A joint decision has been made to stop the collections at the north of the district, due to weather related health and safety concerns. Refuse/recycling lorries weigh up to 26 tonnes and the drivers must ensure complete safety of pedestrians, property and other vehicles when deciding whether to collect from a street during icy conditions.

We know how frustrating it is when bin collections are delayed, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, this week’s weather conditions mean that we are unable to get to some areas safely. Despite our best efforts, there are some areas which have not and may not get their bins collected on their scheduled collection day. Residents do not need to report this, as we are keeping track.

The crews will be attempting to recover any collections that have been missed from the south of the district today, where possible.

The main message to all residents – If you have not received your collection yet, please leave your bins / sacks presented and we will collect these as soon as possible.

Is there a grit bin near you, and is it running low after the recent snowy weather?

Most of these bins are refilled by Derbyshire County Council, (The Highways Authority). There are contact details and a serial number on each bin which you can use to let them know that a bin needs filling, or topping up.

The exception to this is the bin at the top of the footpath path linking Gibbons Bank to Monsdale Lane via Bankside. This bin was installed by a previous Parish Council and is not supported by the County Council. If it needs filling contact the Clerk at clerk@parwichparishcouncil.gov.uk and I will sort it.
