Another great Wakes week is over. A very big thank you to The Carnival & Recreation Committee, the OddFellows, the Legion, the Sycamore Inn, the Church, the Memorial Hall and everyone who put so much hard work into making things run so smoothly. It is also the busiest time of year for us here at parwich.org, and indeed Thursday was our busiest day ever. As so many photographs are published here on the Blog here is a list of all this year’s Wakes posts to help you find what has been posted:

Nia has inherited the organisation of this year’s Parwich Panoramic Five (Fell Race), and has asked us to post the following:

Would anyone like to be a marshal for the PP5 on Tues 4th Aug?

Chance to wear a high viz vest and look at sweaty men and women in lycra safe in the knowledge that being a marshal implies being the sensible one!

Contact me on 661 if anyone would like to help. Great fund raiser for Parwich Memorial Hall and the Royal British Legion (the national charity).

It is a great event and well worth supporting so do give Nia a ring.

On Sunday June 7th we held our annual “Groundforce day” when the legion gets its pre-wakes makeover both internally and externally. Big thank you to our willing volunteers who gave up their Sunday afternoon to come along and help – you all did an absolute fantastic job which is very much appreciated.
Big thank you also to Emma and Rob for the excellent BBQ you prepared for the troops.

Thanks again, Carl

We have received the following update from Parwich Royal British Legion:

On Friday 8th of May, Parwich Royal British Legion will be remembering the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. We would like to invite members and non-members to come and join us at the Legion as we mark this occasion.

At 7.45 pm we will gather outside the club (inside if it’s raining), this will be followed by:

  • the Act of Homage, delivered by Fred Knight;
  • Sir Winston Churchill’s famous end of war speech;
  • King George VI end of war speech;
  •  A rendition of Land of Hope and Glory; and
  • we will conclude by playing the National Anthem.

We look forward to seeing as many people there as possible to help us mark this occasion, afterwards everyone is more than welcome to join us for a drink. Many thanks for your continued support, Carl (Club Chairman)

On Friday 8th of May, Parwich Royal British Legion will be remembering the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. We would like to invite members and non-members to come and join us at the Legion for fifteen minutes as we mark this occasion.

At 7.45 pm we will gather outside the club and play Sir Winston Churchill’s famous end of war speech over loud speakers. This will be followed by the Act of Homage, delivered by Fred Knight, and we will conclude by playing the National Anthem.

We look forward to seeing as many people there as possible to help us mark this occasion, afterwards everyone is more than welcome to join us for a drink.

Many thanks for your continued support,
