Planning for Pump Hill

Some residents may have noticed activity at Pump Hill with people visiting the site and trees being marked. This is part of the process of surveying the site and drawing up plans reflecting different suggestions that have been received. This work is kindly being undertaken by Lynette Coyne.

The information gathered, and drawings prepared, will help with future discussion and choice regarding the site. At this stage nothing has been ruled in or ruled out. The minutes of the last Parish Council meeting recorded that:

“For the avoidance of doubt it should be noted that no decisions about implementing some or all of any plan or any variation to it, has been taken, or will be taken other than in a Parish Council Meeting”.

The Parish Council is grateful for feedback that residents have provided. If you have any further comments you can e-mail the clerk using the address clerk@parwichparishcouncil.org.uk .

Climbing Frame Location

Reminder of Parish Council extraordinary meeting regarding climbing frame location

Meeting on the Green at 7:30pm on Thursday 12th July

Climbing Frame Location

We have received the following from the Parish Council

At the least Parish Council meeting the purchase of a new climbing frame was approved and the order has been placed.

During Wakes week it was brought to the Council’s attention that the proposed location affected the access to parts of the green for funfair rides this year.

The proposed location provided ample width to pass between the climbing frame and the brook. However the operators of the funfair were concerned that this route might be over ground which sloped too much for their vehicles to pass safely.

The suppliers of the climbing frame have very kindly offered an alternative layout which would overcome this problem. The play elements incorporated in the modular design of the climbing frame are exactly the same.

In order that the Council can formally choose one of the layouts, or consider other ideas, an extraordinary meeting will be held on the green at 7:30 on Thursday 12th July.

As with all Parish Council meetings members of the public are welcome.

Further information is available by using these links.

Dredging of Jubilee Pond

Now that the weather is improving and the ground becoming firmer the Parish Council wants to have material removed from the Jubillee Pond to reduce the risk of flooding in the future and improve its appearance.

A tender form has been created on the Parish Council website which can be seen here.

If you are interested in tendering please use the form on our site or contact the Clerk.
Please bring this opportunity to the attention of anyone else you know who may be interested.

Pump Hill

The Parish Council has arranged with the Probation Service for a Community Payback team to clear the ground on the Parish Council’s land at Pump Hill. They will be removing brambles and small self seeded trees and shrubs. No work is being done on trees.

The work will be carried out this weekend, 24th and 25th of March. There will be a skip provided by Derbyshire County Council parked in the road from Friday to Monday to collect what is removed.

This work is being carried out at no cost to the Parish Council.

The work is not linked to any future plans for Pump Hill. It is just being seen as an opportunity to improve its appearance. None the less any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

Grit Bins

Refilling of most grit bins is the responsibility of the Highways Authority, Derbyshire County Council. Anyone seeing a bin that needs refilling can call them using the phone number on the bin or make a request via their website. The bin can be identified by a number on it or from a map on the website.

It does no harm if more than one person reports the same bin.
It is possible that there will be delays in refilling bins during the current weather.

I have checked the following.
Creamery Lane triangle and the School have plenty.
Pump Hill and Kiln Lane were empty and I have left some of the bags held by the Parish Council for pavement clearance to provide some cover until they are refilled.
The bin at the top of Creamery Lane near Barn cottage is filled by the Parish Council and has two unopened bags of grit by it.
The bin on Smithy Close is the responsibility of Waterloo Housing.
The bin at the telephone exchange is the responsibility of BT and is for their own use.
Please note that the grit in yellow bins is for use on public roads only.
Regards
Andrew Martin

Road Grit

We have been asked to remind people that grit in the roadside bins is for use on public roads and pavements. Concerns have been expressed to the Parish Council that some people are using the grit for their own driveways.

Some of the grit bins belong to DCC and some to Parwich Parish Council. There is information on the bins on who to contact if they are empty.

Free Logs!

The Parish Council had several dead trees in the village cut down on Friday. Pieces small enough to handle but which could be cut down for firewood have been left at each site. They are at the School Orchard by Pump Hill, the Playground and the east end of the Millennium Green.

If they are still there, residents are welcome to take some away for their own use. Note that this is at your own risk and take care when moving them. Logs should not be cut up at the site. Please respect the School Orchard if removing logs from Pump Hill.
