Hi Team,

ON BBC 1 EAST MIDLANDS TODAY initially at 6.30pm and then 10-30pm there is to be a clip about Tom and their visit to Parwich yesterday (8th Oct)

  • they came and visited Parwich School and got them cheering him on

  • etc

They are also visiting a few people to do a run about Tom next week and his banter with rival Austin ‘England Rugby Ace’ Healey.

So thanks ‘cos being at work and at Townhead (we are facing BBC West Midlands) we can’t see nothing.

Stuart

One point in it

To view this video clip in high quality, full screen mode:

Vote for Tom

Come along to the Sycamore Inn this evening (6-45 to 8pm Saturday 4th Oct) to cheer Tom on.  BBC East Midlands will be filming and chip butties will follow the programme.

Stop Press: According to “well-informed sources” (guess who?), Tom and Camilla will be Couple Number Six in tonight’s draw, with their arch-rivals Austin Healey and Erin Boag drawn as Couple Number One. They will be dancing the jive, and the rumour mill suggests that the music could be a chart-topping Michael Jackson hit from 1991. (Oops, we were wrong!) Tom’s fiancée Clare will be cheering him on in the studio audience, along with all the bridesmaids-to-be; watch out for their specially made badges!

Phone lines are open between the end of the dancing (aprox. 8pm)
and 9-30pm on Saturday 4th Oct

Tonight on the Claudia Winkleman ‘It Takes Two‘ show on BBC 2 at 6-30pm it seems there is to be a bit of banter between Tom and Austin re their fun rivalry, and then (probably) some good luck messages from Rosy and nephews Oliver and Charlie.

All can be seen subsequently on ‘I’ Player, as it was amusing last night as Tom and Clare turned up in Oxford St at the Gary Rhodes book signing so Tom said to just check he was not canvassing for Strictly votes.

Click on the above picture to see last night’s episode, which also contains a slot on Tom and Camilla’s rehearsals (it will be on-line for 6 days)

Click on the following link to access all the recent episodes of ‘It Takes Two’.

Also in the Sycamore Inn this Saturday Night we hope to watch the Strictly episode and Tom’s Jive. A few Chip Butties will follow.

Stuart and Rosemary Chambers went to support Tom Chambers (aka Dr Sam Strachan of Holby City) at the BBC studios,  Sheppards Bush in London for the Saturday Show and the results show on the Sunday 21st September.

At 4.30pm, having been in rehearsals since 9am, Tom is looking surprisingly relaxed – but maybe not.

Tom was a bundle of nerves as he and Camilla, his gorgeous Danish dance partner, were ‘first out of the trap’.  We were delighted but so nervous for him too, a very live audience with demanding judges!

Rosemary and I were joined by three prominent members of the Holby City cast, Michael Spence, Daisha and Maddy Young, they were so supportive.  Maddy and Michael gave some superb off camera tv interviews which we should see over the next few weeks.  The cast of Holby City will attend the show as regularly as they can, maybe we’ll see Michael Spence dancing in 2010.

We had such a great time in the BBC bar before and after the show, chatting until near midnight with other contestants in particular a hot favourite being Rachel Stevens of S Club 7. I can’t tell you how exciting and exhilarating it was, gorgeous dresses to look at and lots of other celebrities to meet and see – a bbc bar to use too – I would recommend the evening to anyone, try and get a ‘wild invitation’ via the bbc.co.uk Strictly Come Dancing website.  It’s a long day and it’s true you do see more on the TV but the vibrant atmosphere of a live show with the movement of boom cameras, technicians and all the contestants… Fantastic.

Tom and Camilla were the first to take the floor on this evening’s Strictly Come Dancingwith a ChaCha.  The judges’ score of 28 puts them currently in second place behind Austin Healey and Erin Boag, however to make sure they are not in the dance off they still need our votes.  The results will be announced on the Sunday show at 8pm.  (more…)

Tom Chambers is featured on page 3 of today’s Derby Evening Telegraph.

Stuart said Tom wants to succeed on the show to make people in the county proud.

He said: “He really wants to help put Derbyshire on the map and everyone should get behind him.”

Patti, who lives in Parwich, has known Tom since he was at school and is certain the village will back him all the way.

She said: “When Holby City first started we all watched the show in the pub.  He may be on TV but he’s still our Tom.

“If he goes right to the end, and I think he ought to, I’m sure the village will have a fantastic party.”

Extra copies of the paper are on sale at the Sycamore.

Tomorrow night (Saturday) at 6.15pm Holby City will come face to face with Casulty on the Weakest Link.  We will see our local favourite star, Dr Sam Strachan (aka Tom Chamber) pitting his wits against Anne Robinson who in her normal style will take great pleasure in attempting to tear her contestants to shreds.  Other stars appearing from Holby City include Linden, Maddy, Mark (Robert Powell) and Maria.

Although this clashes with the Wakes Carnival, there is no need to miss out, just set your videos for 6.15pm.  Hopefully we will also be able to see it on our computers on BBCiplayer.  We’ll keep you posted on this one.

HOLBY City’s Tom Chambers returned to Derbyshire to open the new imaging centre at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Littleover.

The actor, who plays Sam Strachan in the BBC TV drama, and grew up in Parwich, opened the £2.2m centre in the Rykneld Road private hospital, which includes an MRI scanner and a CT scanner.

MRI means magnetic resonance imaging and the machine uses radio waves and magnets to create clear pictures of parts of the body.

The CT scanner takes 64 pictures of a patient’s body, from different angles, allowing detailed images to be built up for quicker diagnosis.

The MRI scanner can be used on up to 15 patients a day, whereas the CT scanner can investigate up 50 people a day.

Thank you to Stuart for sending this article in – as published in the Derby Evening Telegraph.

According to Stuart: “Tom is on his way back now – very tired – but note the trainer special shoes are those he was playing on the court after the Open New Court day.

Important! It’s still not too late to sponsor Tom. Click here, then select the green “Sponsor Me” button. As is appropriate when you consider Tom’s current storyline in Holby City, all funds raised go towards Olivia Newton-John’s proposed Cancer Centre.

And finally: if there are any readers who haven’t yet seen Tom’s amazing tap dancing and drumming sequence, it’s now available on YouTube. How long until they sign him up for Strictly Come Dancing, one wonders…?

Parwich sport has never had it so good, as dozens of fans crowded together supporting this impressive occasion. The ground was hard & the conditions were cold but we witnessed drama, mental resilience & the breathless physical fitness of so many.

We may not have had the hordes of celebrities who were present last night at Calzaghe’s fight, we were just more selective choosing Dr Sam Strachan (aka Tom Chambers) to open the occasion. One of his more memorable & very astute statements was “may every ball be in” as he manfully cut the recycled red ribbon to the hard play area. Di who opened the proceeding stated that she “particularly enjoyed the kiss” from heart throb ‘Sam’ of Holby City fame.

Three teams were competing for the accolade of champion of champions, the single sex team of the Netball players and the mixed teams of footballers & tennis players.

Here are some photographs from the grand opening of the new village shop, inside the Sycamore. Our local TV celebrity Tom Chambers was on hand to congratulate Janet, as were a whole crowd of well-wishers.

Inside the shop, you’ll find all the essentials, including fresh fruit and vegetables, free range Parwich eggs, tea, coffee, cereals, fresh bread, dairy products, canned and frozen food, household goods, sweets and crisps, and (as you would expect from a pub!) beer, wine and spirits. And if you’re quick off the mark, there are even some Easter eggs for sale.

As an added bonus, lunchtime and evening shoppers can stop and enjoy a pint or a glass of wine with their purchases – and what could be more civilised than that!

Thanks to John Fuller Sessions and Kevin Slater for the photos. To view the full set, please click here.
