Please confirm your Newspaper orders

The Sycamore redecorations are progressing well, so keep Friday 2nd September free in your diary for the grand re-opening (see https://parwich.org/2016/08/11/sycamore-re-launch-planned/).

Kirsty is continuing the newspaper orders, so if you have a paper on Saturday or Sunday they will be available to collect. Currently the Shop @The Sycamore is open each day from 10am to 2pm, and we will keep you updated as things progress.

However the list of who gets what newspaper has been mislaid, so if you could let Kirsty or Jane know what weekend papers you want that would be a great help. Either call into the Shop this lunch time or phone 390 212.

We just received this update from the District Council that because of the sheer quantity of general waste they can not guarantee the timing of tomorrow’s grey bin collection. So put your bins out early and leave them out if they are not emptied tomorrow.

image

6th January situation

Please note that excessive amounts of domestic waste (one property visited today left out more than 30 sacks for collection!) are slowing down not only the catch-up plan issued to you via email yesterday, but also, in some cases, this week’s regular timetable.

If we didn’t manage to get to you today, we will try to return tomorrow.

Strictly speaking, we are not able to take extra domestic waste, even after Christmas, and recommend that you continue to recycle as much waste as possible and also use local household waste recycling centres.

Your help in ensuring that your bin collections work smoothly and on time is much appreciated.

* Confirmation of all your 2015 collection dates and a downloadable calendar is available via our postcode search.

Parwich Bowls Club

Mixed fortunes again this week. We had a reversal in fortunes in the two leagues we play in.

Tuesday league -17 May – Home – Bradwell.
Bradwell were only just behind us in the league, however, following this week they have overtaken us! We only managed to win one of the games although another was a very small loss. The score however reflected that Bradwell played a lot better than we did and we lost 61 to 73. We are now down to fourth in the League.

Next match 24 May – Away – Wirksworth.

Thursday Friendly league – 19 May – Home – Tideswell.
Not quite sure what we did right in this match, but it would be really good if we could repeat it or even bottle it for future matches. We managed to win all three doubles games quite comfortably and shared the six singles games three each. Even in the games we lost we only lost by the odd point. The result was that we had probably one of our best results in this league winning by 146 to 107. We were well down in the League, let us hope we have climbed a few places.

Next match 26 May – Away – Matlock Park.

On Sunday we have one of our friendly afternoon matches against Ashbourne Park on their green. It’s a good afternoon, but their green is very tricky.

Don’t forget Monday nights 6.30.

The PDNPA Planning Officers, using their delegated powers, have conditionally granted planning permission for change of use of the former Spar Shop in Parwich to domestic residential.

After over one hundred years of trading, the Shop had closed in February 2008. The current planning consent (application number NP/DDD/0509/0370) means the whole building can now be used as a single dwelling. The conditions imposed are:

  • No alterations to the external appearance of the dwelling (other than included in the current application) shall be carried out and no extensions, porches or ancillary buildings whatsoever shall be erected on the site without the Authority’s prior written permission
  • The double garage on the eastern side of the building shall be retained for the parking of private domestic vehicles in association with the application site in perpetuity
  • The proposed window on the north west elevation shall be obscure glazed and shall remain so in perpetuity

The Peak Park planners are currently considering a re-application for “change of use from retail shop to domestic residential” for the old Spar Shop in Parwich.

The application and plans, which can be see on-line at the Peak Park website (application number NP/DDD/0509/0370), are for a single dwelling with the rooms upstairs unchanged and the ground floor shop area as an undivided living space.

Any comments must be sent in by Friday 12th June (either email to planning.service@peakdistrict.gov.uk or click here for more details on how to comment).  If there are no comments from the public or other organisations this may be decided by the planning officers on delegated authority.

For the Authority to grant permission for change of use of a former village shop it must comply with their Local Plan, chapter 5 section 5.6:

Only where it can be shown that a shop is no longer viable or required by the local community, and that the proposed new use meets another community need, should change of use be allowed.

The planning application for change of use of the former Parwich Spar Shop is showing as withdrawn on the PDNPA’s (Peak Park) website.

It is interesting to look at the recent application for the change of use of the Cavalier Inn at Grindon to fully residential.  A previous application last year was refused on the grounds that non-viability had not been demonstrated.  The officers again recommended refusal of the current application, though they now agreed non-viability had been demonstrated, on the grounds that alternative community uses have not been investigated.  This application was again refused at the June Planning Committee Meeting.
