Lost Ring

Debbie W has sent us the following message:

Hi all,
I’ve lost a ring, I now think it may have happened on Christmas Eve either on my way, during or on my way home from midnight mass.

It is very distinctive: hammered silver with a brass ring around it. I’d love to get it back, so if people could keep their eyes peeled for it, I’d be very grateful.

Hand bells wanted

Nia L would like to know…

…if anyone in Parwich has any hand bells, as we are doing The Sound of Music at Terra Nova next Term (Bertie is a German and Lexie is the goat herder girl… and a nun!) and I am doing the choreography for the waltzing and umphahing bit.

Anyway, we need hand bells for one of the scenes and we promise to look after them if anyone is willing to lend them. We may even come and perform in Parwich if it is good enough – which it will be!

If you are able to help out, please contact Nia on 661, or by e-mailing the blog team at the usual address.

Wirksworth Farmer’s Market has been cancelled due to the snow, however there is a food, vintage, craft and art trail still going on in Wirksworth tomorrow. I have been able to get a table at the craft and produce fayre situated in the Memorial Hall there from 10am till 5pm. There are various things going on such as a Maker’s Market from 12 till 6:30 and a variety of shops are taking part in the trail (Wirksworth Brewery, Vintage Rooms, Traid Links).

Spaniel Found

(Posted at 1pm)

A brown cocker spaniel has been found in Parwich and is currently with the workmen at Nether Green.  If you know anything about it please see them as soon as possible, they will hang on to the dog for the next couple of hours (they have had to tie it up as it was getting in the way of the machinery).

Missing Green Bin

Our green bin went AWOL on Thursday.I left it full for collection and returned to find it had vanished! Perhaps it got damaged and the council removed it, but before I contact them, just wanted to make sure it hasn’t turned up elsewhere. So, if you’ve acquired a mystery bin this week I’d be grateful if you could contact me on 334. Thanks, Sue H.

PS The Church’s green bin never turned up.

Lost 1 Green Bin

St Peter’s Church’s green waste wheelie bin was put out for emptying last Thursday, but by lunchtime that day had gone missing.

If anyone has seen it, could they put it in the Church Yard (just inside the gates), or let the Church Wardens know (messages via parwich@hotmail.co.uk will be passed on).

Free inkjet cartridges

My trusty old Epson Stylus Color 760 printer has just passed over to the Other Side. It died with all lights blinking. It is much missed. It leaves behind three unused colour cartridges and an unused black cartridge. These are available free to anybody who wants them, together with the printer itself, if you have the competence to revive it. In reference to the blinking lights, the online help page says, ‘refer to dealer for maintenance‘.  Just call Keith at Fernlea House, opposite the Village Hall.

Accommodation sought

Fiona H will be well known to many of our readers having lived in both Parwich and Bradbourne, before moving to Scotland.  She is returning to the area, and is seeking temorary accommodation as soon as possible, as well as something more long term.  Please read the following, and if you can help emails to parwich@hotmail.co.uk will be forwarded to her:

I am returning to Parwich on 1 October together with my 2 cats and old Jersey cow. I wondered whether anyone has winter accommodation for the 4 of us? I can possibly sort out myself and the cats but am really struggling to find a place for Poppy. As you can see from the photo, she is not impressed with the idea of being left behind! She is only small and very friendly and I can’t bear to leave her behind. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Fiona

Please could you add to my plea that temporary accommodation for Poppy would be fantastic, just to give me time to find something else. A stable or barn even for a few weeks would be great.

Thanks Fiona

A terracotta pot, approximately 6 inches tall with black writing on the front was left behind in the Memorial Hall at the end of yesterday’s Flower and Vegetable Show.  It had been holding a mixed bunch of herbs and if anyone knows where it was put could you please let me know.

With thanks, Rita

Updated 8/9/10: Rita would like to thank the Horticultural Society for keeping her pot safe and returning it to her.

Cleaning Query

May I please pick the brains of the good people of this village please…

I need to have our living room carpet cleaned – it is disgusting! Does anyone know of any companies that do carpet cleaning, or can anyone recommend a machine/system which I can rent (to do myself) which actually works?

Also, I need to have two dresses altering. Is there anyone in the village that does that?

Thanks so much,

Debbie

The clothes alterations might be something Cottage Curtains (see our local trade directory) are interested in, but if anyone has any answers to this query please add a comment below.

Lost Items

We have received the following message:

I would be grateful if you could put a message on the blog for me. I have managed to lose a pair of black ballet shoes and key by leaving them on top of the car and driving away from home without realising. This happened at 4.30pm this afternoon. When I returned about 6.30pm they were nowhere to be seen en route. I am hoping that some kind soul has spotted them and picked them up. Shoes needed for exam next week!

If you are that kind soul please let The Blog Team know at parwich@hotmail.co.uk and we’ll pass the message on.

Insurance Problems?

Following the post on insurance problems relating to ‘flood’ risk and the poll on interest on the possibility of specific solutions for our area, the insurance brokers, the Wilson Organisation, are holding a surgery at the Sycamore Inn from 5pm on Tuesday 11th May. Email CProw@wilorg.com to book a slot.

Many of you will have seen the recent article on this subject on the Parwich Village website and several of you have expressed an interest in discussing your insurance needs with an independent insurance broker, either in a surgery format or individually.

As a result we have arranged to come to Parwich on Tuesday 11 May and Bryan Elliott and I will be in the Sycamore Inn from 5pm onwards. The Wilson Organisation has strong relationships with many insurance companies and this means we can offer bespoke cover, which will cater for your individual circumstances, at competitive premiums. We have researched Parwich and the surrounding areas and we are confident we can help. Please come along and see us. Please email to confirm your interest and a suitable time from 5pm onwards on 11th May.
