Wakes Friday night just got bigger and better not only do we have The Vipers playing in the Memorial Hall (£5 on the door) but our one and only DJ Funky Gibbon will also be spinning the decks. Plus if that wasn’t enough the chip van will be parked in the memorial hall car park from 9pm to keep you fueled up to party the night away. See you there

Our annual Wakes week starts this year on Saturday 30th June so get the date in your diary. The Carnival and Recreation Committee are currently finalising the activities for the week and we will share the full programme shortly. Subject to final approval at the next Parish Council meeting the Village Bonfire and fireworks will take place on Parson’s Croft on Sunday 5th November from 6pm.
There will be a bonfire, best guy competition (£5 prize), fireworks, raffle and refreshments.
Due to insurance costs and health and safety requirements we will be holding a raffle and have donation tins located around the site; please donate so we can continue to provide these events in the village. Please note that our insurance states that people must not bring their own fireworks to the site, this includes sparklers.
The bonfire site is the same as last year and is clearly visible so please bring along any dry wood, logs or dead branches but DO NOT bring anything with metal and nails such as mattresses, pallets or sofas.

As Wakes week draws to a close for yet another year the Carnival and Recreation Committee would like to give a massive thanks to YOU for attending and supporting our events. It has been an absolutely cracking Wakes (helped by the gorgeous weather) and we couldn’t do it without support from the Sycamore, Legion, Odd Fellows, fair, Notts DA and those unsung heroes (you know who you are) who do all the little jobs behind the scenes such as keeping our lovely village clean and tidy. We love you all for it and without it we couldn’t keep the events going.
See you all next year – now for the detox (after the glass of rose i’m just drinking!)
