Children’s Sports is going to be a wet one! We are still going ahead for any children who still want a race in the rain. There may be a change in the races but we will review it on numbers and conditions. Please be prepared to get a bit wet!!

Parwich Primary School will be hosting a tombola and selling some lovely new gift items on their stall at the Wakes market this Saturday from 10am – 2pm on the Village Green. Please pop along to support us and grab a bargain 😁.

Tree Down – Alsop-en-le-Dale

UPDATE: All clear as of 10.20pm

Jane has contacted the blog to let us know there is currently a tree down blocking the road at Alsop-en-le-Dale, meaning there’s no through route to or from the A515.

They’re working to remove it, but not sure how long this will take.

The Balls are Ready!!

The balls have all been counted and accounted for. They will be ready to buy from Liz E, Rosie W and Karen W on Saturday.

Prizes are 1st £75, 2nd £50, 3rd £35, 4th £25 and 5th £15.

The Ball Race itself is on Friday 5th July, 6.30pm down Pump Hill.

Parwich at 3.45 on the 26th July and the 23rd of August.

Open gardens photos

A wonderful Parwich Open Gardens

The sun was certainly shining on Parwich during Sunday afternoon with 500 (yes 500) visitors travelling from near and far, including California, to enjoy Open Gardens 2024.

The village looked amazing and on behalf of the whole PDHS committee, a huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone who worked so hard and in so many different ways to make it one of our most successful events in recent years. Whether behind the scenes ahead of opening time, those volunteering on the day and everyone who supported it by taking family and friends on a tour of our lovingly tended gardens. Plant sales were buoyant and we even catered for a wedding party of 24 who arrived on spec to enjoy a cream tea before these sold out. 

Final receipts are still to be confirmed but we shall, as always, be looking to share funds among other village clubs and organisations at the next AGM. 

Our thanks again and do enjoy looking at John Lord’s stunning collection of photos. Here’s a taster:
