Fairies at Pump Hill?

I am reminded by Lucy M’s lovely suggestion that I have been dilatory in putting this on the blog.

This is a special invitation to the youngest members of our community.

Have you seen the fairy stools at Pump Hill Wood?  There are three little seats located in places where you can sit and look around to see if you can spot a fairy. Sometimes they dance in the sunbeams, or in a gentle rain. You can also sit here and see animals in the distance, insects, small birds and different kinds of flowers. You can also close your eyes and make a wish. This magical place is changing every day as Mother Nature has taken charge.

Note to parents . Please, for the next few months, keep children on the paths. We need to ensure that what is lurking below the loose soil can thrive as it comes through. In addition, brambles are starting to poke through. In the next week or so we will have to spray the nettles, so straying into the planted areas is not a good idea. We will as a matter of course advise everyone when this happens, through the blog and with gentle reminders at the two entrances.

Dear Parents,

Please take a few minutes to read the attached ’12 Days of Online Safety’ which provides advice from an approved online safety consultant.

Christmas is upon us and with it often comes children asking for internet devices.
Also, during the holiday, there is much more time to be online.

This can cause heightened safeguarding risks.

Merry Christmas,

The Parwich School Team.

Children’s Friday football to become Sunday football???

Due to work commitments James and I are thinking of moving the Friday football to Sunday morning (9.00am – 10.00am).

Sunday works for us both and the early start time still allows everyone to make the most of the day.

It will also give us an advantage that we could play for longer in the year on the grassed area, as opposed to the hard courts.

I have discussed this idea with a number of residents at Parsons Croft who don’t see any issues. I welcome any feedback from other Parsons Croft residents and parents of the children.

Many thanks

Jason and James

This week will be our final Friday Football before we take a break for the summer holidays.

During the summer the number turning up for football drop off significantly as people go on their holidays, also James, Charles and I need to recharge our batteries.

The children should be encouraged by their parents to continue to meet up every Friday and play a game between themselves without adult supervision.

We will start back on 6th September.

Many thanks

Jason

Are you interested in an apprenticeship, or know anyone who might be?
More Derbyshire County Council apprenticeship vacancies have gone live on their jobs website .

There is a countryside warden and two outdoor activity instructor positions. This is in addition to the civil engineering, trading standards, business admin and health and social care vacancies that are already available to apply for.

More vacancies will be released over the next couple of weeks.

Anyone over 16 can do an apprenticeship. So whether you’re just leaving school or are looking to train in something new, an apprenticeship could be the way to go.

PARWICH PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA

Bags2School

Next Collection

Wednesday 20 March 2019

Please, drop off bags of donations at school by 9am.

For information: This is a great fundraiser for Parwich Primary School.  Bag2School are a non-profit making organisation who collect and remove for recycling unwanted clothing items etc. School is provided with collection bags which are distributed amongst families, who fill the bags (please use bin liners if you have lots of items) with their unwanted items of clothing, shoes, bags, belts, bed linen, towels, curtains, soft toys etc. (no bric-a-brac!).  The bags are brought into school on the morning of collection day, and Bag2School collect, weigh them and pay school, via the PTA, an amount depending on the total weight of items collected.

We would welcome members of the community to bring any unwanted clothes, shoes,

bags, soft toys etc. in to school by 9am on Wednesday 20 March ready for collection.

The more bags we collect, the more money is raised for school funds!

Please ask friends and relatives if they have any suitable items to donate – in bin liners or similar is fine!

 Many thanks for your help!

Volunteers for CHICKS

IMG_1429

CHICKS Children’s Charity offers much-needed respite breaks to disadvantaged children aged 8-15 from around the UK.

Our Daleside Retreat in Fenny Bentley is looking for volunteers to help support the work that we do.

There are plenty of different ways in which you could get involved – maybe fundraising or hosting a coffee morning, helping with crafts at events,
manning a CHICKS stand in Ashbourne, taking our collection tins out or even helping us with the garden.

This year we have plenty of exciting events planned including Tissington Well Dressings and The Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials

You can volunteer for as much or as little time as you like – we are very flexible and do understand that it needs to fit round your existing
Commitments.

It’s a great opportunity to learn some new skills, meet new people within the community and become part of the larger CHICKS family.
If you would like to learn a bit more about volunteering for CHICKS please call Karen Robinson on 01335 350 525 or email: community@chicks.org.uk

Sadly the weather has beaten us….. I have had a look at the weather forecast for the rest of the week and taken the early decision to cancel this week’s Friday Football (1st February).  Sorry kids.

For the safety of the children (and the adult helpers) we will not play on an icy tennis courts, it’s just too dangerous.

Thank You!

Paul and I want to thank whoever knitted this beautiful cardigan. Paul bought it at the harvest festival but we never found out who made it. Luckily we had a little baby boy who fits it perfectly! I wonder if you may be able to post this for us with our special thanks.
